How much space is left where steam installs games?
is there a bunch of games being installed in steam?
But aren't even close to actually installed?
If you don't have enough space in C:/ some minor space limitation errors can occur
If you don't have enough space where steam games are actually installed, in which steam will likely over-shoot before allowing the actual install, just to ensure it will succeed - then errors can occur
If there's a bunch of games being downloaded by steam, Steam allocates space for those games before hand. - The disk will look normal but Steam will assume it's full, because it's Manager plans on it being full - try and install a brand new (free) game and see how much space Steam thinks you're playing with.
Them not being even close to actually installed just helps the previous point.
The simplist being having say 100GB of space locked for usage only by Admin/ C:/
Where you might have a 1 to 2 terabyte hard drive - but someone else has decided for you that when you get to that last 100GB, You're SoL
An Alternate to this is something you likely wouldn't see - System Reserve. Something you (or your OS installer) decided on OS installation/Hard Drive Setup for the OS
System Reserve actually takes and hides its portion of space, though, afaik. So you wouldn't think "oh I still have 100GBs"
i've still got 107 gig on my :C, and when i try to download it i make sure nothing else is being downloaded anywhere (chrome, EI, whatever) but it still doesn't work...
