Trainee Department promotions?
So I'm stuck on the quest where you need to promote two employees. I've tried upgrading two employees, finishing the day, etc. And still the quest hasn't been completed.

You need to get them to increase their level.
it's pretty easy, during Management, just use two them and let them work everywhere, any job.

Level 1 has a 60 points total stats. When all stats reach reach a certain amount of total points, the employee will level up. I thought for level 2, you need 100 total stat points. (for example, 25 on everything or 35, 35, 15, 15, or something). For level 3 you need 180 stat points. Have fun collecting I guess.

Working on a Teth provides more 'experience' (sort to say) than a Zayin. (as it is based on work time.) He's will obviously give more exp than a teth, but it could be dangerous for a beginner to work with those. Teth is safe, depending on your skills as a manager (as long as you follow the instructions correctly). Just be careful. (for example. Punishing bird can hit hard, so use High+ Succesrate works)

What I did was get 2 absolute newbies and just throw them at One Sin for the entire day until they hit level 2. He's pretty much perfectly safe and I just alternated between the two stats he's high with.

about that, you could upgrade one of their stats other than temperance and prudence so they only need to upgrade 1 stat to be promoted

I know this is an old post, but how do you know when you're done? Where do you see the points collected? I'm not seeing them on the UI when I click on the employees I've been working hard back and forth.

without mods you see the promotions on the end of the day report. if an employee increased their stats via work they'll show up and you can see how much their stats changed and if they got promoted or not

I don't really follow threads that are years old.

How do you know when you're done:
It's simple. Testing, Looking at the result, gaining knowledge through experience.

People can also mod the game, but without mods you need to simply play and figure it out on your own.

I assume you ask because you don't want to, it's fine.

If your employee is Level 1, and you work on a Zayin, you get 1~2 points per work. (something like that) if the work is succesful. (The more successes you have with the work, the higher the stat gain. So abnormalities with more PE boxes give more stats.)

However, a higher risk level also increases the stat gain. So if you work on a Teth, you get more per work. (Likely 3~4 points per work, but who knows).
And that is, untill your employee is Level 2, so once its level 2, it drops back to 2 points.

You'll be shocked to see how quickly you can level a Level 3 employee to max out their stats (in 10 works) on an Aleph. (of course you need to increase their stats through "You must be happy" to survive an Aleph, but still.)

If you work with a level 1 on a Teth, you can reach level 2 (or 3) relatively easily on a stat; it just requires 10 works or so.
You gain a level on a stat every 20~ish points. Once you have reached 80 points in total, your employee levels up. So if you have all stats just barely at level 4, your employee will be level 3.

The max an employee can go is to about 100 points per stat + their base value, so some stat will be 105, some will be higher, etc.)
and that is without the buffs from ego gifts. So you can go to that much at most. However-- at some point you will be able to increase stats even further through Work (or through spending LOB)

Summarized
There are a couple of factors here. How much higher (or lower) is the Risk level compared to the employee's level.
How many PE boxes do you get.
Was the work 'success'?

then the number of works done. (just count them)
