Who is already making a map with the editor ?
For some days i am now getting back in to Mapster32 mapping (with this game ofcourse), have mapped with it in 2000 till 2002 but most of this knowlidge i have lost. Mainly due to mapping with other games after that. Am checking around but it seems that no body has placed any screens or info of there maps yet, not to speak of maps for download. Or am i wrong.

So, who is Fury mapping?
And if so, have you anything to show for yet?

By the way, i am quit sure that video Fury mapping tutorials on YT would help to get new people to Fury mapping. I know that Mapster/Eduke32/Build tuts are just as good, but new people probably don't. So,....

As soon as i have something to show of myself i will make sure to post it here,

greetings,
Leon

I would be if Mapster/Build/etc. as an editor wouldn't be so stuck in the past. Seriously, Doom modding tools (especially SLADE3) are so easy to use now that even 8 year old (not that 8 year old should play Doom...) can use them, with many WYSIWYG tools, menus, toolbars, etc. while Mapster/Build basically hasn't changed from when Ken originally made it and that age shows.

I made this. And this is about as good as it's ever gonna get. LOL

I wouldn't mind cutting my teeth on the Editor. I dabbled a bit in Worldcraft/Hammer Editor and UnrealEd, how complex is Mapster32 compared to those ones I mentioned?

I thought the front page said this game was coming with its own editor.

It's not really a different version of Mapster32, it just comes with config files for Ion Fury.
I recommend joining the 3D Realms discord and checking out the mapping and mods channel. Plenty of people there, all eager to learn and help... The Devs have said they are working on some more documentation to assist with maps and mods, so it's just a case of holding off a bit before everyone dives into it!

I've never mapped in my life, only with the Snap Map thing on Doom 2016. Pretty eager to give it a shot some time, but might wait on that info drop!

BUILD is easy, especially if you're a 30-something Boomer who already made hundreds of maps.
Started up Mapster and it immediately clicked again in my head.
Not as easy as SLADE3 or DoomBuilder is.

Not really. Doom has a much larger community, and programmers with a lot more free time to make editors from scratch. :p

I stand corrected. ;)

I had understood that it had built in optimizations and scripts/script helpers specifically designed for Ion Fury that would have made it a slightly unique and/or different version of Mapster32 (but just barely so). You have much more knowledge on this topic than I do though, so I'll certainly take your word for it. :)

We did improved on some stuff for Ion Fury, but naturally they also made it to regular Mapster32.

Cripes! I haven't used the Build editor for years. There's a Duke Nukem map on my workshop if anyone's interested. That was the last time I made a Build map and the only one I updated for EDuke. Original was from 1997 or thereabouts.
