32-bit support?
Would this be hard to implement? I'm asking because I use a 32-bit Windows 7 laptop at my girlfriend's house and I would like to be able to play this game there.

I hadn't read that link, and it is convenient for grabbing a copy of a proper 32-bit executable for IF, but I'd still recommend compiling your own if you ever wanted to take advantage of new updates as they become available, unless your preference is to wait for someone else to do it and post it somewhere.

If you're not familiar or comfortable compiling the file on your own, then the file posted in that message thread should certainly work for now.

I'm not sure if you're aware of this, but you're posting this in a discussion about the availability (or the option of compiling) a 32 bit version of the game's executable file.

For the problem that you are experiencing, I would first suggest seeing if there might be any new, updated drivers for your video card. In some cases it might equally help to regress to an earlier driver.

After trying the above, your issue might be better addressed by posting in the "Bug Reports" discussions.

A standard EDuke32 will always be able to play any GRPs.

That's nice 'n all, but mine is complaining about Con files.

You can't just use fury.grp by itself, you have to have the related files included for it to work properly.

I must have a mysterious copy of the game because my Ion folder doesn't have any Cons.

The .con files are inside the .grp (which is a renamed ZIP).

If you're still using 32bit system, you REALLY need an update/upgrade. Plus you're problably not getting the best performance out of your system.

I have an Athlon XP for example, it is a 32bit CPU.

It can't even run Windows 7 (since 2018 March) if you want to keep it updated since Microsoft screwed up one update and put SSE2 instructions in it. Microsoft's recommendation was "upgrade your CPU" instead of fixing their patch. You can't just upgrade the CPU, there is no AMD CPU with SSE2 for any motherboard from that era. You need to buy a new Intel motherboard and a Pentium 4 if you want to keep your DDR1 RAMs and other stuff. So my solution was to install Linux on it, it runs fine and I can run the latest versions too.

You made the right choice by switching to Linux. I was going to suggest just that before I read that you've already done so. Sure, it's still running a 32 bit OS due to the processor, but it's probably been like a brand new machine since making the move to Linux. Nothing wrong with older hardware that is still operational - If it does what you need it do do then that's all that matters. And ya, it'll die at some point in time as no machine lasts forever, but if it's working for you for now then there's nothing wrong with that.

So Ion Fury can be launched and run on a 32-bit OS with EDuke32, no problem.
But how do you download Ion Fury from Steam?
Let's say you want to have fun with the achievements and support the devs. So you buy the game, but when you try to install/download it, unfortunately Steam will get you stuck with the "Game is not available on your current platform" message, preventing any game files from downloading. This is so ironic because the message is false news.

Possible solution #1:
Configure/hack/break steam to ignore your PC and OS stats or hide them from Steam. But I've no idea how to do that as an average, amateur PC user.

Possible solution #2:
Devs make a beta test option for the purpose of including Eduke32, similarly how devs of DUSK did it for 32 bit users, except I assume they made the game or executable 32-bit, instead of using a different source port, but that's besides the point. The point is, if you download Eduke32 and pirate the game, you can run it on 32bit. Why not include EDuke32 in the steam download via the Betas or something?
https://steamcommunity.com/app/519860/discussions/1/1744480332712116711/
So I don't know how implementing Eduke32 to the game purchase in steam will legally work for the devs. I don't know who owns Eduke32 and if a game dev can use it in such a manner, but there is that.

And before anyone mentions upgrading to 64-bit, please shut the f**k up and stop being a useless spammer. If someone can't upgrade, they have a good reason for it due to their circumstances.

If only there was a way around the "Game is not available on your current platform" message, save devs the trouble.
