Custom Games
The best times ive had on pavlov--and gmod--were with dark rp. Id love to bring it back and in vr. Though the best hope for that is S&Box, im not sure if thats even coming out. To add to that VR is a dying medium too, sadly

Id like to know if the devs have though about adding the workshop back?
Are there still RP servers?
Will there ever be hope of letting pc vr players, play with Shack players?

The steam workshop is never coming back. All mods are hosted on Mod.io. The mods can be accessed through the mod browser in game. Shack has a large user base and several RP servers, it isn't a custom game type I partake in so I can't speak to it much. Shack maps are coming to pcvr in order to allow PavTV to view Shack games, so while it's still not very likely that pcvr would be able to play with shack players, this could be a step in a very involved process towards that.

Where the mods are hosted doesn't matter. Even if they shifted back to hosting them on steam for pcvr none of the old maps would work since the game is on a newer engine version. The modkit allows for mods and gamemodes to be separate from the maps making more things possible without having to pack everything inside one ugc.

yeah but a older build of the game that used the older engine would work.

they keep all the builds so i don't see why they can't

An easy anti cheat (eac) update caused the legacy branch to no longer function. It isn't an easy fix and would require going to a higher version of UE4, which would break workshop compatibility anyway.

so have an executable of the game that doesn't use EAC.

a separate program to launch on steam

the devs are lazy. lets face it, this could be so easily done but they wont.

Then why did so many map makers leave? where did like, a 3rd of the community go after the update that killed workshop maps?

The mods need to be updated from UE4 to UE5 and some functions might be broken afterwards and have to be fixed first which can be very time consuming. Some map makers just didn't have the will to work again on the mods so they rest now in a broken UE4 version. On the other side new mods which weren't possible with UE4 appeared now such as new weapons or vehicles. Same counts for maps.

For me it was mandatory to port "Dog Green Sector" to the new version and now it looks even better and has more features included compared with the old version.
