Recent Oculus update on PTC build may have broken Pavlov VR for you.

Hello everyone,

We're getting many reports that the users on the Oculus PTC v17 (Public Test Channel) branch are no longer able to launch Pavlov VR. It is a known issue with the developer team and we are trying to get this resolved as soon as possible. In the meantime please revert back to the main Oculus branch as it has been confirmed by a few of our users that this has resolved their problem.

Oculus Software > Settings > Beta-Version > Public Test Channel > Disable

After reverting, please make sure you restart your computer. If that does not fix your issue refer to this thread on how to clean your Pavlov VR installation.

If you are still having issues launching Pavlov VR after reverting to the main Oculus software branch, please leave a comment below so we can help troubleshoot a possible solution until we can get this issue resolved with Oculus.

If you are a non-Oculus headset user having this issue please let us know if you have installed or used Revive software to access the Oculus platform in the past and which Oculus software build you are running. Please try the steps above to see if it resolves your issues.

Black screen and exit using a Rift-S. I haven't been using any betas on either Oculus or Pavlov. I've not played Pavlov in a while and just tried it when I saw this sticky, so no idea how long it has been broken.

When I start up Pavlov, it opens up the window but then disappears. Steam recognizes that it's closed but, the blue "Play" button is green (Green indicating the program is going or you're playing the game). Steam recognizes that the game is closed but somehow sees the program is still activated. I've tried looking for it in the "Task Manager" window but I cannot see such program. My Oculus doesn't have the "Play Test" thing on so that isn't an issue on my end sadly. This could be a problem with oculus's new update overall.

I unsubscribed from all workshop items (most were auto subscribed when joining servers) and validated files. Pavlov will now start up, but it takes a while (haven't tested it any further than jumping into the range for all of 30 seconds). Maybe give it a try.

Oh, I still get the non-supported headset message.

i have everything un-subbed and workshop files removed, even removed my Nvidia drivers and re-installed drivers with no luck

wow i cant believe people are still having trouble playing this. i use VD with my quest to use steam vr, and had a issue with this awhile ago but just truned off the public beta test in the oculus setting and its worked fine for me ever since. i acutally played just yesterday and it worked fine for me

Yea. I had the problem for like 5 minutes until I read this and turned PTC off.
After that it worked normal. Don't understand why people still can't get Pavlov to run. ^^

if your having trouble with your headset connecting to steam vr you should uninstall and reinstall steam and steam vr. When i was first trying to get my quest to work with VD and steam, steam vr wouldn't find my headset and it was a 2 day problem. Until i uninstalled steam vr, steam, oculus rift software, and virtual desktop streamer then reinstalled all restarted my pc and have never had a problem since.

If so... Why Pavlov still can't launch when I'm using Remote Desktop.!? From what I've checked 'VD' is not using Oculus App to play steam games (it's not launching or needed opened), like I've played HL Alyx, it streams straight from Steam to VD in Quest. This makes me think its Steam or game itself that's bugged.

does it show up saying "loading", then change to "play in VR"? then do nothing basically?

yee its not just the oculus ptc, its vive and index as well, my friends get the exact same crash on different platforms.

my issue recently has been quite frustrating as I have never had issues before with this game. I have an Oculus Rift. Tons of space and a very powerful computer. So no issues there. Now Pavlov VR wont install custom maps if I join a lobby and I dont have a particular map. I have offline maps which dont show up online. I tried uninstalling the game. Then just the other day, missing game files came up under steam downloads for Pavlov VR. the file im missing is LinuxServer.pak seems to be. I dont even know what that is about. I also seem to be having a hard time joining games while the game is in progress. This is beyond frustrating. Also a message about my headset not being supported comes up everytime I want to play Pavlov VR. I simply choose ok and the game starts soon after to the main menu. I installed the Oculus patch, Ive deleted the folder "555150", I even reinstalled oculus software to no avail. I am running Oculus Rift on Windows 10.
