Slowing me down too much and there isn't a lot mid to far range battles in Pavlov to even that disadvantage out with a more steady aim.

I used one for a while, I no longer do. I find they hinder more than help. I imagine for players who've yet to become accustomed to playing VR it'll steady their hands some. Once you've got your "VR arms" for lack of a better term they don't really do anything.

If you're looking for more immersion they're a great choice, if you think they're going to make you a better player you're going to get schooled hard by top tier players.

To those that like them, more power to you. I just don't want new players thinking they can't compete without dropping cash as this is explicitly not the case.

They're unnecessary and get in the way. I switched back and forth for a while and kept wanting to go back to it for scoped weapons. I eventually just put the stock away completely and developed a good muscle memory without it. You will be just as good, if not better than people who use stocks.

They will slow you down unless you play only the largest of maps.

They're great if you're planning on using snipers with long range scopes almost exclusively. Otherwise, the drawbacks outweigh the benefits.

I use a tennis ball shoved to the end of a metal curtain rod as a vr stock just using the controllers alone for using weapons other than pistols i'm usually the lowest on the scoreboard but using my ghetto stock I always end up at 1st or 2nd place it makes aiming at targets a breeze for me

Doing fine without the stock, practice makes perfect.
Go virtual stock. A physical is annoying when you want to throw nades

I use a MagTube gunstock plus Virtual Stock.

BasedDragon, please know that out of everyone that commented here, I know 3 of these guys (besides myself) to be very good players meaning you're getting really good advice no matter which way you look at it.

Now, all of them were pretty much saying, "slow you down / get in the way," but the honest truth is I use a gunstock and these good players commenting on here all know who I am for a reason.

First of all, a gunstock does not slow down your reloading / re-firing when you have hours of playing / practice to build up muscle memory; it's like second nature, I never miss the magnet mounts.

Next, you can easily sling a gunstock around to your back for using pistols / grenades for S&D players on pistol rounds or save rounds.

BasedDragon, if you'd like more reasons why I recommend using a gunstock, check out the Killhouse leaderboards. I'm ranked 2 and 3 on multiple weapons there.

Bot Yuri is one the best players who uses a stock. He's God Tier with the AK and a testament to a stock's potential.

So yes, you can potentially become extremely good with a stock. But some people can be just as good without one. Muscle Memory is key.

So I recently made a post about gun stocks and reviewed the Magni Stock which is a carbon tube with 3d printed magnet clips that tighten around the polls. I have noticed a 100% Increase in all my sniping and it really comes down to which stock you are using, how comfy it is, how well built it is, and if it "gets in the way" which I feel sorry for anyone who bought the fully plastic rail stock on amazon because the parts don't fit properly. Having 2 tubes locked together is much stabler and is insanely light but the controllers add perfect weight. The trick is as everyone says, muscle memory. Most people who say it "gets in the way" or "it slows me down" typically have played a massive amount without one and are more fond of close range shoot outs.

The areas that are improved by stocks are as follows:
1. Long range shootouts with any gun
2. Hip fire is increased MASSIVELY! To explain...hip fire without a stock causes bullet spray to be all over. When you have a stock, it will always kick straight up and only straight up. This has given me a HUGE advantage against close range fights as I don't have to worry about kick and if anything it will shoot at the head as it kicks.
3. Confusion on how the iron sites line up is fixed!!! I personally HATE some guns such as the Kar due to its pointy tipped site. I was inconsistent with it and I never touched it until I got a stock. Now I finally can aim the thing properly and I have gotten much more accurate with the iron sites of all other guns including ACOG sites.

These are just a few I can list off the top of my head...but considering I have been kicked 2 times in 2 days sense getting this stock as people think I am cheating lol I think it does the job well~

And I am kinda laughing on the inside at the people saying "It gets in the way when throwing nades" hahahaha. This is cute. Do you think the hands are permanently stuck on the stock? Not how it works. I can clip off both my hands, put the gun away, then grab a nade and throw. It seems people don't like the stocks because they either don't want to pay or they get mad when someone kills them with it from long range.

Gun fights are NOT fist fights lol people are complaining about a weapon that was literally built to fight at long range.

At the end of the day it all comes down to how you play. AKM has the potential to do 30 headshots before you need to reload, if stock allows you to reach that potential then sure, you'll do better with it.
However I don't think you'll ever manage to throw a fast grenade with stock, I'll gladly watch video footage that proves me wrong (for example, peak a corner, shoot something, throw a grenade, peak and shoot the same thing again - if you can do it as fast with stock as without it, then I'll be convinced) and I doubt you'll ever manage to shoot K98/AWP as fast with stock as without. I'd be curious to see you play with a stock against very skilled players.

Most of the engagements in Pavlov are on such distances, you'll benefit much more from just using your fully extended arm as a rest for your other controller, sort of an "armstock".

If you hipfire with stock you lose the ability to do recoil management easily.

I can reload a bolt just as fast as I used to. I even have gameplay of doing it. Also its kinda childish to bring in "higher level" into this convo when there is no ranking and the only profit from competitive is the league group site. As I said and several other have too, its about muscle memory. I too am still adjusting as I've only had it for 3 days or so. I can't deny that the position you hold guns without a physical stock is closer to the chest and quicker access to nades, but I can still shoot you without shots being inaccurate as my kick goes in one direction while yours sprays everywhere as both of your hands will never be perfectly straight at all times. People in VR try to "adjust" to the kick by pulling the gun right or left or up or down and that's not always gunna work and I've died many times trying to do just that especially with an LMG. But I'm not here to argue, everyone has their preferences and when I play gun game, TD or Search...people hate me for sniping them lol. I'm sure a one shot 50cal which kills people makes them more salty than when they die to a shotgun which doesn't always one shot at close range.

How is it 'childish'? I can go 21:0 against newbies, with total disregard for game sense and strategy because they can't even shoot straight or know where to plant the bomb; and I'm happy to get 1.0KDR when I'm playing against good players.
If you take skill level out of equation then yeah, stocks are the best against players that can't shoot straight but still try to take potshots against you from across the map.
