I'm thinking about getting this game, but how long does it take to get into a match?
Generally, I feel like multiplayer VR games are hard to get into (as in they take a long time).

pretty fast actually, there's always a room with space for me, from 5-15 rooms depending on the time,

I can start up VR and join a game in about 3 minutes. Pretty easy and quick to get into any game

Only a few minutes, no matter when I try there's usually a few lobbies.

Imagine a game where you just download maps and that's the whole game. Welcome to PavlovVR lol. I just loaded in and sat there for literally not even kidding 40 minutes downloading map after map after map because each game goes for less time than it takes to download a map, so by the time you get halfway through the download they have finished playing and move on to the next map which then also has to download. By the time everyone else got bored and all but 3 people left and I ended up as the host I was so bored of sitting there that I just left and jumped back out of my vive and now I'm here having a ciggy thinking about where everything all went so wrong. It's not like I haven't already downloaded a bunch of maps. I have 12 pages of them in my list. But somehow still by some twist of coincidence every game I join people manage to just over and over again pick maps that I don't have yet.

That just sounds like really bad luck - for 90% of the lobbies getting Dust2 is enough... :D

Maybe download some of the most famous maps in steam before firing up Pavlov.

In all seriousness though, not even 2 minutes. If you by some stroke of luck already have the map that is being played, it's literally load up the game, 5 seconds of splash screen, open the menu, pick a game, and you're in within like 30 seconds. Depending on the game mode you might need to wait for a round to end, or deathmatch you just spawn in.

Hah yeah I just a real string of bad luck, been playing for a while and usually do get in pretty quickly.. not sure which are the most famous but I have most of the CS and Goldeneye maps and that usually does the trick.. it probably doesn't help that I'm in Aus downloading from USA servers and my internet speed isn't too great to begin with otherwise the maps might actually download in less than the time it takes to play a round on them :P

Yeah with getting the CS maps (plus "Industry") you should be good for most games.

You must have some ♥♥♥♥♥♥ as hell internet. I've been in servers where we go from the lobby to game and I still have to download the map, yet I get into the game only a few seconds after the others have.

Same here, I imagine it's just your download speed. At 50mbps it usually takes me 10-15 seconds to load a new map.

You can do what brainslug said and pre-download some of the "famous" maps. I'd suggest the CSGO and COD maps, killhouse and D-day seem to be popular right now too.

After a while it won't be so bad, once you have downloaded most of the more popular maps, you won't have to wait as long, and the odds of you getting a map you haven't downloaded yet goes down.

go to the steam workshop filter by the most popular maps, and dowload most of them when you're not playing, that way you will only occaisonally have to download one.

my first few days playing i was downloading maps all the time, after a while you end up with most of the maps and rarely need to download any.
