Pavlov VR

Pavlov VR

Controller appears stuck in floor, can't do anything at main menu.
Vive, WMR and oculus users are having the same issue.

Oculus Rift user, as of last night and today all seem fine on my end. No game breaking issues

This was last night for me about an hour after the update rolled out, so maybe it's been fixed by now:
If I go into the offline mode selection menu to choose an offline mode...I can't go back to the main menu. I can only flip between the two pages of offline modes and am stuck there. I have to restart the game to get back to the main menu. And I'm using Index controllers. So maybe add that to the list too if that's what you're talking about. I can select...but I can't go back to the main menu using the the two buttons at the same time that brings you back to the main menu.

So I was like ok, that's not a hard fix and a small bug. Then I went to try making a server next. I get the "finding server" message on screen until I give up. Pretty sure I tried joining a server and the same thing "finding server". I'll try it again tonight. Hopefully at least the servers are working. Kind of annoyed because Dave isn't one to roll-out half-baked updates. I don't understand how an update could get put out and it couldn't even be used last night much. That's not his style.

I'll try again tonight. I wouldn't refund. He'll fix it. He's not going to abandon it. I'm just disappointed that it was hyped up and came broken. But the server issue could have been on steams side. So I'm giving him the benefit of the doubt on that one.

I'll try it again tonight and hopefully the servers work like they used to at least and it's not a constant "finding server".

This game and the Metal Gear Solid games are my favorite ever. So I'm not giving up on it.
... You sound like a nervous wreck. Or a clingy girlfriend that texts too much. I'm not trying to be rude.

Maybe you two didn't get the problem, but in another thread multiple users reported the same problem from WMR/Vive/Oculus.

maybe you should try troubleshooting yourself before posting on this board.

Wait what? What are you even talking about. A nervous wreck or clingy gf? I asked for you to clarify your issue, if it's similar to mine (because mine pertains to the menus as well) and you act like *I'm* the fool for you not elaborating the current issue RIGHT AFTER AN UPDATE?

You also said Vive, not the Vive Cosmos. You just linked a thread to the Vive Cosmos and Rift-S having the hands stuck in the floor of the game, which happened with many others...which is because HTC didn't give SDK Cosmos kits out to developers and they couldn't optimize the game for them. That's a known problem for many games. And there's a fix for that. Google it.
Vive users aren't having that problem. The Vive Cosmos? Yes. Pretty sure Rift-S people figured out the issue because tonnnns of Rift-S owners play this game.

That said, I was simply asking if you meant the same thing I described in my first comment, because you weren't specific. You said nothing about the hands in the floor, you just said the menu couldn't be used. That's it.

This is all you said "Be prepared to refund, can't control anything from main menu.
Vive, WMR and oculus users are having the same issue.".

So apparently me asking for you to explain further and me asking if my issue is what you're having because it had something to do with the menu and you didn't even explain your problem whatsoever aside from saying "the menu won't work" (you also didn't mention the hands in the floor thing until now) = I'm a nervous wreck or a clingy gf? Good luck with that. Now I'm amused...how do I sound like a nervous wreck or clingy gf by describing my issue with the update, asking you to explain your issue further to see if we're having similar problems, etc.? I asked for you to elaborate to help us both, but instead you decided to be a very bitter person.

Maybe people would ask for you to explain/help if you explained yourself and posted that link in your original post above. That'd make sense though. Making sense though is apparently too hard. You need to learn how to talk to people.

And @epic made a good point as well.

I know it's very hard for that not to sound rude, but I genuinely didn't mean to be. It wasn't about what you actually said or what I thought of your feedback, but how you talked about the developer.

"So I was like ok, that's not a hard fix and a small bug. Then I went to try making a server next. I get the "finding server" message on screen until I give up. Somehow that made me think of a nervous, clingy GF trying to explain away her BF not texting back immediately. I don't think of you as lesser in any way despite how unflattering that sounds... it was just such a unique connection in my eyes, I just had to express it.

And I made an edit in the thread I linked, the issue used to be that, now it's evolved into what I described here. I appear at the main menu and the controller is stuck in the ground and I can't interact with anything. Buttons do nothing.

Also, you said the thread was about Vive cosmos? There are comments saying oculus, original vive and WMR share the problem. Can you link the fix please? I have no idea what to specify.

Yeah like I said, I have both Vive and Index controllers. I've had both sets before that post was even created. Never experienced the hand in floor problem after over 150 hours into this game. Also, the title of the post you linked yourself is "WMR and Vive Cosmos hands stuck in floor glitch". You're not helping your cause. So, cool your little jets for a second and remember that your post is titled "Be prepared to refund, can't control anything from main menu". Ok, so you were talking about menus, not the hand in floor stuff. And the hand in floor stuff wasn't in your post description, nor did you link to hand in floor issue post either.

Buddy, we don't live inside your head. We can't read your mind. Say what you mean, if you want people help. Go troubleshoot, before you go on the "I'm insulting you, but I don't mean to insult you" route, be accurate in what you say. This is a you problem, not ours at this point. The solution is out there, go find it. When someone says an irrational insult to someone who is trying to help them and compare technical problem to help each other...and in the same sentence say "I don't mean to insult you"....you know it's insulting and hit the enter button lol.

I'm sure you'll get tons of help from people by being agitated at them, because YOU didn't even fully describe the problem, didn't at least provide a link that describes the issue, etc. Never seen someone act like you on here.

Well, you can't interact with the menu if your hands are in the floor. But I'll edit the post to better reflect that.

And even if you don't believe me, I'm not agitated and I didn't mean that to insult you. It's just, somehow I got the impression that you might be emotionally tense about it, and I thought maybe the comparison could help you somehow.

At the very least, I didn't know how else to say it. I genuinely thought it might help you out if that was your deal.

Can you please help me find the fix?

I'll try not to have the heart of an alligator:

First off, what headset do you have?
WMR.

Ok, multiple issues could cause this:

Absolutely start with restoring the controller bindings to "default". I'm pretty sure that should be done in SteamVR and also any WMR stuff that has the PavlovVR key bindings stored. Doesn't matter whether you changed them or not, just restore them to default anyways.

Then try...

1) getting rid of an HDMI extension if you have one

2) getting rid of USB extension if you have one

3) You may have too many USBs connected to PC

4) Backlit keyboard like a razor or corsair can cause it

5) Too many bluetooth connections or bluetooth interference from having a bluetooth device very close to the computer and/or headset and/controllers.

This is a problem for WMR with many games that use the Unreal Engine, which many do.
Alright, thank you. I'll experiment and come back with my findings.

sounds kind of like my issue
my WMR controlls are stuck to the floor and I'm unable to change the bindings
keep getting a message stating the "file path for Action Manifest" could not be found
I figured it might be the original controller binding I was using has become useless but I'm unable to change the controls back to the original legacy bindings

I'm getting the exact problem, it says it cant find the steamvr_manifest.json in the configs file but when i open the said folder its right there. im not sure how to fix this, ive tried clean reinstalls many times and even with the new patches it has never worked for me. for some reason on my system pavlov load the config files even though there are there.

i dont have issues with my other games though, its just pavlov

When and where does it say this? I didn't get an error message.
Beng Nov 19, 2019 @ 6:31am
Ok I fixed it.
So basically this error happens when you install your steam games in a different folder than the original path.

To get the error message launch Pavlov then go into the steam menu in VR and the the settings tab. There I got the error message saying it can't find the action manifest in "C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\PavlovVR\Pavlov\Config\SteamVRBindings\steamvr_manifest.json"

Pavlov is probably looking for that file in that location but it does not exist as I installed my games in a different folder.

The fix for it is to create that specific path and copy over all the files in the original SteamVRBindings folder in your Pavlov folder to the newly created folder.

That fixed the issue for me.

Hope it works for you too.

ah sorry forgot to say that to get the error message go to settings then controller settings on the left while you're running Pavlov. It should automatically show up.

Are you talking about the steam vr settings menu or pavlov?
