I was in this search and destroy match and the other team was all talking ♥♥♥♥.

it doesnt really give you a big advantage, imo it has its pros and cons, for me it really messes up my reload speed, but makes my sniping much better,

also you dont need to spend that much for a stock, I 3D printed mine for less than $20

You don't need a stock. A lot of the best players don't use them.

Easily, the best players aren't using them. Stocks are good for immersion but don't help you play any better. For users new to VR it'll definitely help them keep their hands straight but it's more like training wheels until they can do it on your own. It slows reloads a bit and it can be a pain to manage an object you can't see.

If you're new and are having troubles though you might try enabling the virtual stock in the menu, it'll keep things steady for you as you learn to play.

It's unfortunately a pretty common misconception that stocks will make you better or that they're OP. I've had instances of players accusing me of using a stock as if it were some kind of cheat, when I very much wasn't. You just need some practice my friend, warming up with a DM bot match where you do headshots only and if you miss you have to disengage or engage another target first before trying again works great.

Oh thinks alot, i didn't really see it that way.
In Pavlov for most weapons you can actually just keep your hands together as if you were holding a pistol, even when it's a rifle. That is less immersive but it basically acts like a stock in terms of stabilizing your arms.
the amount of people using actual gun stocks in pavlov is probably less than 5%, nearly everyone however uses the virtual stock in the settings

most people (myself included) use virtual stock, takes light years to get used to, but basically when aiming simulates the stock at your shoulder. Ridiculously easy to get headshots and i imagine easier with a real stock. I'd say try it and warm up in a bot match with it at first and see if you like it

just go to home depot and buy some pvc pipes that fit your controllers

Stocks help me because my hands are very very shaky in general. It's still shaky, but now I can actually use a scope.

I tried using virtual stock and it seems the gun is more calm while holding it, but I wasn't able to aim down or up properly. I am playing without stock and it works the best for me.

Stocks help in some aspects and hinder in others. I use a stock, I love it, but it impede's my use of grenades and makes reloading take longer. Stocks are a love / hate thing and shouldn't be looked at as a form of cheating. You can practically make one at home if you really want to use one, but everything has it's drawbacks.

havent been able to play for a long time, but when I was playing I would be playing push maps and using scoped snipers, and be doing really really well - without any sticks or aim assist etc. Just raw input, with knuckles and basestation 1.0

I don't think a tube really gives much benefit apart from immersion.
You should be able to make a diy stock using stuff like a pvc pipe and magnets, maybe
Other than that general tips to get better accuracy when shooting in vr:

-use real life strategies. these include having a correct stance, taking a breath then shooting while youre holding the breath, trying to be in a comfortable stance such that your muscles are relaxed thus still, stuff like that
-support one of your hands/controllers on another part of your body, like your chin/cheek.
