I know i'm ranting, i just don't understand the developers decision :(
I can even understand the reasons why an animator would want something like a charging handle to reciprocate with each shot, in theory it helps provide additional feedback to the player about what's going on. At least that's some of the reasoning I've heard before.
What I have a harder time understanding is when those changes would actually improve the feel of the weapons. Like the 2 stage trigger on the AUG and P90. If you have Contractors give the AUG a try, you'll not it has no fire select (just like real life) you just pull trigger part way for a single shot and if you pull it all the way it's full auto. It feels super good and adds an interesting mechanical layer to the weapon that takes full advantage of the fact we have analog triggers.
I think what's more likely though is that many times people making the content will use other content as reference and unfortunately we end up with a bit of a blind leading the blind scenario. I'm sure we all recall the old counter-strike m4 where it was being ♥♥♥♥♥♥ by pulling back the forward assist.
There's nothing on the gun to indicate this. I know it's not happening, because the model was already changed for accessories update, but it needs SOMETHING, slap a fire selector from the M4 on the back of it like Airsoft Guns have, I don't care anymore, just give it something.
And why give it a burst instead of semi-auto? Why give FAMAS full-auto and semi? Seems kinda backwards, but guns follow their own logic in this game. I just wish they'd go full "screw it" mode and mirror the guns if you're left handed - so the revolver opens to the right, and bolt's on the left side of the sniper rifles.
