New Sniper Ruins the Game
I know it's just a dumb'd down version of the AWP, but I can't play a single game without everybody running around with these 50 cals 1-hitting everyone.

Edit:
My suggestion to balancing the weapon is making it scope only, plus a big speed reduction to the player.

Something tells me that this 50 cal has a "cool factor" to it that the AWP doesn't have and that it's going to be a consistent issue in the future.

I can't see why it should change, it takes forever to reload and deserves to be one hit kill. If it did splash damage or penetrated walls there might be wiggle room I guess.

Absolute beast of a gun, very rewarding to use and a great addition to the arsenal.

Shame it cost us the AWP which is effectively useless now unless you are sadistic. I think that should still be 1 hit kill for chest and head regardless of armor along with the Kar 98.

Making 90% of damage is far from useless...The AWP is now something like a Kar on steroids. And I liked the Kar...

90% or even 99% doesn't make a difference, in TDM or DM it's down to time to kill and it's now a 2-shot killer which is extremely hard to work with in CQC - unless your a sadist. It's basically the same as the Kar98 with a box mag.

Unless you want to prove a point or you are bored it would be an uphill struggle to remain competitive with the AWP now.

When you can instantly kill with the AK or sub-1 second double-tap the AR15 or burst with any other weapon you are dead way before you can chamber and fire that second lucky shot.

I always consider S&D - DM or TDM is impossible to balance anyways...

Good point about hard to balance, I'm not complaining as the new single-shot is the most satisfying VR gun to fire yet! :0)

I get what you mean taking 90% off an opponent is decent if you have other team members to finish the kill. In TDM though or DM with such low time to kill most people die each encounter so start each skirmish with 100% health. You rarely see anyone paying attention to the 'team score' either it's just about killing as many people yourself as possible.

That's why i play these modes only as a warm-up and then pistols only. Or guns i want to train.

I tend to pick one weapon each map and just stick with it, pistols are great for that. Do you think there is a way to have pistols only as an option?

I know you can lock it to revolvers but it would be sweet locking a tree, only smgs or only rifles etc

Not sure - i think a UI overhaul is coming at some point, so there is hope for pistol only lobbies.

UI over haul is badly needed. But, the game works and has had a single dev up until the point, so it gets a pass.

Wouldn't it benefit the anti tank snipe to give is a crazy recoil like if you were to rapid fire the 5 shooter? if we aren't going to nerf the damage output, wouldn't it be best to make it harder to reload? because right now it reloads maybe .25 seconds longer than the awp.

I don't get it? Honestly the AWP (the bolt-action) that's been in the game since release has always 1-shot killed players. It's magazine fed and a lot faster to use.

This out lash by random users is very confusing, did they just never understand how the game worked before or something? It's a huge nerf to the bolt-action rifle by taking away it's 1-shot potential for the sake of implementing this absolute beast of a rifle.

It doesn't need extra recoil or slower reload time it's perfect as it is. I think the only reason for this outcry is its horrifying size and gruesome effect when it chops players in half lol I spent the entire previous evening in hysterics after every shot =D

Funny thing is, people who continue to defend its OPness saying something like "it takes forever to reaload", overlook the fact that with the ability to use the holo-sights on this thing, it's nearly impossible to miss your shot, thus making .50cal a 98% winner in any 1vs1 situation.
Before some updates ago, there were no holo-sights in the game.And AWP was balanced by high magnificent sight-only. You had to aim your shots precisely. And now, with the holo-sight, you can just run around using it as CQB weapon, never missing your shots. THAT is why the new gun is OP. Its "taking forever reloading" doesnt make sense because you have to be a total dеgеnеratе to miss your shot using a holo-sight from 5 meters
Make it high magnification sight-only, and then maybe it will be a bit balanced

In VR, and in Pavlov, reload speed is heavily reliant on the person reloading the weapon. Someone who is familiar with VR can reload that in huge-ass weapon in 2-3 seconds. Someone who's on steroids and has done nothing but VR the moment it was accessible can reload it much faster.

In other words, saying "It has a slow reload" in a VR shooter doesn't make much sense, because reloading isn't a forced animation like on a normal non-VR shooter.

Finally, the first decent thinking person. "taking forever to reload" doesnt mean sНit in VR. Not to mention that you have to be a complete moron to miss your shot from 5 meters, using a holo-sight on this thing. Thus, no need to take the reloading speed into account, with this gun
