I finally realized this game is frustrating to play
Killing enemies does not feel good.

You are not rewarded for killing them - they are too bullet-spongy to kill them all with your small supply of ammo, and you are actively punished for trying to sit and fight them, so 90% of the game involves completely ignoring the enemies that are chasing you, and only shooting them when you absolutely must. That's awful, awful game design.

This is where the frustration comes in. You touch some foliage, so you are obnoxiously slowed to a crawl, then one of the four chargers chasing after you hits you in the back. Great, now you get bogged down dealing with that, dodging spitters and bile titans at the same time. It's a chore.

You aren't earning anything by killing enemies, not even respite or time.
A horde shooter should not treat fighting the enemy as a punishment. Ignoring everything else, it just doesn't feel good.

Bro steam discussions is full of people who will defend their new favorite game until they get obsessed with the next new thing. Any type of disagreeing viewpoint will be met with jester rewards and insults.

Anyone who disagrees with me can go check out the Wayfinder discussions. 117 player average and people their will fight tooth and nail to claim that it's not dead.
I know this post is already old but I came in here to say.

Skill issue.

Game not made for you, play something more casual.
This game is not a standart generic horde-shooter. It is Helldivers (2).
It is very uniqe in it's gameplay loop.

Killing enemies is not rewarding because that is not why they sent you down onto that planet. Unless it actually is the missions objective. But then you still won't get any bonus for killing additional or special enemies.

If the (chaotic) situations you discribed are happening regularly, then either your squad or you are the problem.

What I am about to say mostly applies to diff 7+ (the diffs below are more forgiving):

-Never attack patrols or enemy-packs for absolutely no reason.

-If you have to attack enemies, be it a patrol or be it enemies chillin' at your objective, strike hard . Rather throw 1 or 2 stratagems to much than to less.
Avoiding enemy reinforcements is vital.

-after the strike has occurred, rush in and make sure there is no mob alive that can call reinforcements/cause breaches.

The "enemies killed" and post-game-stats in general, are just for felx. And while I agree there schould/could be even more of them (for flex) and rewards like capes badges or titles, there is no reason to farm kills rn.

Get your job done, gather samples if you wish so and evacuate...

I play on suicide and fend off entire reinforcement waves myself so....the key is to definitely bring a support weapon as turrets are easily destroyed and air strikes need time to recharge.

Remember, you are an elite commando "behind enemy lines", not a common soldier.

1. Fullfill your objective

2. Only fight, what stands in direct conflict with fullfilling your objective

3. You may see POIs as your personal objective

4. ???

5. Profit

There can be only one bug breach at time. Pretty sure it has a cooldown too.

I sawI 3 bug breaches at the same time: 3 huge orange smoke clouds with bugs coming out.
But they were distant, not really close together...

If your team is close together maybe there is just one breach possible in that area.
But if all run into other directions everyone triggers his own breach...

The patrols call em, like multiple Landing ships are called by Automatons.
I have seen 2 Automaton landing ships almost colliding with each other dropping 2 groups at the same spot...
I think i saw multiple breaches only on killing missions and maybe on mine scanning which is scripted. In your case those probably were bug holes you saw. As for automatons it's normal for them to call in 2-3 ships at once depending on your difficulty and squad size.

Man no matter what opinion you have in the discussions some angry redditor is going to give your post a clown award if they don't agree with you, don't sweat about it. I've seen positive posts get clown awards, I've seen negative posts get clown awards, it's an arbitrary point dump that I feel should of never existed in the first place as it just makes people feel entitled to act like they're smart by having their buddies put "wholesome clever dino intelligent etc" ontop of their post, and clowns on others' posts. (and it's created annoying trolls who make intentionally stupid posts to get a bunch of points as a result)

Many people actually do want to give meaningful conversations, just ignore the awards and talk like an actual person instead of a crybaby who pretends that anyone who happens to enjoy the game and wants to talk positively about it is a fanboy.

I'm fine with fighting the hordes, but bug breaches are the most annoying thing to deal with in this game. You can quickly find yourself in a situation with infinite spawns of them with no hope of recovery. That's even when you don't stumble into a patrol and are just trying to do objectives. You can shoot down drop ships, but you can't close bug breaches unless you kill the horde that crawls out of it. Makes zero sense to me.

Yeah the breaches are what made me switch to fighting the automatons honestly. Bugs are fun but you're very restricted to a specific playstyle with them, with the automatons you get a lot more leway in what you are allowed to do especially in terms of controlling the horde.
It sounds like you need to git gud.

the game has stealth mechanics

y0u are meant t0 empl0y asymmetric tactics like guerrilla warfare

its actually s0 c00l t0 hit the gr0und and have a bile titan walk right past y0u 20m away while y0u sl0wly crawl thr0ugh the jungle mud t0 safety
I wish more would understand this. I'm always getting dudes who kill everything on sight. We don't HAVE to take every fight! Sometimes being sneaky or running away is OKAY!
Oh yeah, if fighting enemy hordes is all you want to do there's a specific mission called "Eradication" that lets you do exactly that.
