Managed Democracy ensures that a system that understands our ideology and beliefs better than us votes in our place with our opinions. People aren't political experts so letting them be swayed by lies told by candidates would be troublesome and cumbersome.

Actually everyone gets a vote. You go to a voting booth, answer a questionnaire given by an AI and then that AI votes on behalf of you voting for the candidate that best suits your answers. Idk if you can hear it now but the Ship Master used to say something along the lines of "We have the most up to date Voting Voyager on board the Super Destroyer in case you were wondering how voting works up here"
