PSN Account still required to play?

If you buy and play Helldivers 2 on steam, does it still require you to create a PSN account or can you just do it with steam and no 3rd party account?

bought it last night using a psn account is not required and can be skipped

PSN is no longer required. On the other hand, reporting players was also linked to PSN.

Been playing since release. PSN has never been required to play. Sony wanted it, but it never happened.

Should try and realize that "planned" and "officially required" aren't the same thing

Not required anymore, there was it only for 1-2 weeks, when the SONY forced their hands on AH and Steam, but Steam was forced to refund all that player that was in restricted SONY area and the review bombing let them slip the idea. I had the PSN when i got the game, but now i can't unlink it from Steam, no matter what i do or i ask, SONY allways reply me that it's dangerous and i could lost all my progress (probably not) and purchased things (and this is bad, with all the Warbonds i bougth). So i'm ♥♥♥♥♥♥ :D
