WASP Launcher vs Spear
I'm curious if the WASP launcher has any uses that the Spear doesn't. I enjoy using the WASP launcher, however, it seems inferior in most of the cases I've tested. The Spear, for example, will 1-shot Hulks from the front, while the WASP launcher will not. I believe the same is the case with Tanks and other targets which the Spear can kill in 1-shot.

The wasp feels like a novelty value toy when compared to real weapons like the autocannon and the recoiless rifle. I'm not a fan of the wasp.
Wasp is good for medium enemies, Overseers and devastators. Not the heavies
the anti tank pen in the description of WASP is kind of a misnomer. while it is actually AT pen, its damage is so low it's not really anti-heavy. however, it locks onto more enemies than SPEAR can.

treat WASP kind of like you do ABRL, grenade launcher, MMG. anti-medium, with some very minor AT capability. For example, it's more economical at killing gunships, and that AT pen will also shear off the cannon turret on the back of a factory strider.

in all other situations though, bring an additional dedicated AT to deal with heavies. thermites, ultimatum, EATs, senator (for specifically hulks), rocket pods etc

it's the closest we have to hd1's commando, which was also backpack fed, anti-medium, upgraded to AT pen, but weak AT compared to other options

artillery mode drops down to med pen, but will be better for wiping out patrols. it uses all 7 shots to do this, but will still work if 1 shot is in the chamber so recommend waiting until then to use artillery.

Very underrated support weapon. The biggest mistake people commit is considering it a dedicated anti tank. It's not- WASP is more of a jack of all trades, sacrificing power for versatility and being able to take out medium key targets quickly.

In fact WASP can lock on medium enemies, usually 1-2 tapping them. And even if it takes 1 or 2 full volleys to kill a non-giant heavy from full HP, it's very ammo efficient and allows you to finish weakened targets by tapping rockets one by one, where other launchers will just overkill and potentially waste ammo. It's an useful support tool to assist teammates with dedicated AT or when you need something to help you deal with both medium and heavy targets all in one.

My only complaint is the artillery mode. In current state it sucks and needs a buff or a rework.
WASP is one of those "average against everything" weapons that ultimately means it's not useful because your primary and strategems are already that, whereas you need a strong AT since heavy enemies are much more frequent than AT stratagem cooldowns

In HD 1 it would only work on the tanks weakspot and the easiest way to hit that was to stand right in front of the tank.

The WASP is amazing against it's intended targets which are medium targets like overseers, devastators, warriors, hive guards, etc etc. It one taps pretty much every single one of those from 200m away letting you clear the field of them letting you or someone else focus on the really big targets easier

You know all those people that complain about the overseers or the flying overseers the squids have? Yeah the WASP 1 shots every single one of them.

Since it can also target bigger targets it can also help handle those or deal with them as long as you have the ammo or know what targets that you're engaging with. Some targets, like the bot factory walker, aren't worth engaging with as it takes too much ammo but it can deal with everything else just fine.

You just need to know how to better. While it can lock on like the spear, you need to learn how to swap targets better when there are multiple things that it can lock onto. With some practice you can learn how to swap targets fast and kill all medium targets before the first rocket hits

I use the artillery mode if I need it to fly over obstacles, but I haven't tested to see if the damage is the same as the standard mode.
Is easy to kill yourself with it though because the rocklets fly out at a wierd angle.

Maybe they could make a version where they shoot up from the backpack, and the gun part is just a laser pointer.

From my experience the artillery mode kinda sucks and isn't worth using, instead of dealing higher damage to one target, it just spreads out little damage in an area, the enemies need to be really weak for it to actually kill them.
