Pre-Order armors as DLC
Anyone else think they should make them purchasable as dlc, kind of like what Space Marine 2 did? I'd love to be able to complete my collection of armors.

No. That's a DerpRockGalactic move.
1. DLC means you can't pay for them with in-game currency.
2. AH can churn out a handful of DLCs in years, whereas HD2 more in a few months.

This is because DLCs cost the developer money to publish to Steam/Sony.

Nope, and I don't have them.

Not too fussed one way or another, it's an armour set I'd never see myself using just because the other unlockable armour is much better.

The only armor i really want is that ambassador of the brand, other then that they're all eh

I do own the pre-orders and I say one year of exclusivity is enough. I hate games that do one and done items.

Hell no. Its a really cool exclusive reward for those that preordered. I like it because it gives some players the extra little shiny thing as a thank you for putting money up front before many others and having trust in the devs to make the game good as opposed to all who join afterwards after a game blows up. Nothing wrong with either of course but its a cool little exclusive thing and should be left that way. I never preordered darktide but I play it with my mate and I am pretty sure he has exclusive stuff that I dont because of that, same with exclusive cosmetics you get for playing betas before release. Provided they are cosmetic only I say keep them exclusive to those who were there first. I really like my day one eye patch in sea of thieves for example. Its to signify anyone who was there since day one. Would suck if that was available for sale to people months and years later imo.

It seems like the basic concept of pre-orders is lost...

First, let's get one thing straight. It's not an exclusivity or not situation, it's a reward. It's a reward for putting your money where your mouth is. You didn't put money upfront for a product you didn't see. You are now waiting, almost a year after release, to say that you like the game enough to want that armor as well. Too bad so sad. No amount of gerrymandering to those without the pre-order armor will change the simple facts about what it is in the first place: a reward for those who put their money in a product they believed in before everyone else.

Any game that promises exclusive pre order content and sells it as dlc later to anyone should be sued for false advertising.

I agree, locking content to new players forever is just dumb. If they're scared of pissing off the minority of the playerbase that already has it, then price the armors at a higher value for the people who don't have it. I'd easily buy a 2000 credit (40 dollars at time of writing) warbond that contains the 3 now-unobtainable armor sets. You can further appease the minority by adding other items to this warbond (grenades, weapons, etc.), and giving this warbond to them for free.

Maybe, maybe not.
I kinda don't really care for the "exclusivity" factor anyway.
Since I don't need some pixels to show people how "special" I am.

I mean they are just recolours right? I can see both sides of the argument, the skins were an incentive to get the game before launch, and sometimes it is nice to have something that other people can't, but I also see the side of people didn't know about the game and found out about it later, so they missed out on something they see as "cool" and would like to get it. Or they just didn't have the money for the game till after launch.

We've all been their were we really want something but have to wait a few days to get it for what ever reason. and that can suck to miss out on something "cool". I don't care really, I'm not really interested in getting them, or even know how useful they really are seeing as I've probably seen pre-order skins maybe 5-10 times in the 470+ hours I've played the game.
Metal Nov 7, 2024 @ 4:24am
I'd be willing to pay if they gave us a warbond for them or something. I didn't even know about this game before it launched, and a buddy bought it for me. That Knight helmet is the only thing I'm interested in, but I like it a lot, would probably run it most of the time. But there are other cool helmets, too, so if not, I'll live.

There's a third one, Cavalier of Democracy. It basically looks like a blue and white version of the Hero of the Federation armor. Both have the gold trim and visor.
All 3 sets have the extra padding passive I think.
