Tried scorcher, meh, never used again
SStrider can still be easily killed if you shoot the legs .. or the bot, as always .. with one shot too
But I do kinda wonder if its resistance to explosion only from the front .. makes no sense to make them resistance from the rear ..
But to me, it also makes no sense that SStriders armor is the same as hulks .. you need penetration level 4, HIGH .. its not that thick
Probably dreaming too much, but certain parts of the bots shouldnt be fully armored, like armpits with cables and motors etc .. makes no sense either
Enemies don't bend over and show you their backside in engagements - in all engagements you'll be facing the front side of any enemy. Scout striders face you with their front plate. It will take two shots instead of one to kill them - this further puts the strain on the autocannon's ammo supply and increases the probability of a bot drop since all engagements with them will take longer to finish.
I think the explosive resistance applies to the whole walker itself and not the automaton that is piloting it. But yeah, the pilot is still as fragile as it was before.
No its a 1 shot with a pistol. I dont use AC against them as its a waste of ammo. Just kite towards them and then circle strafe with the SMG pistol. Or just get elevation on them and 1 shot the bots head since its sticking out above the armor plate.
If its a group > impact grenade on the faceplate takes out 2-3 striders in close proximity.
I tell a lie I do use the AC, but only when they are on the dropship because you can multi-strike the bots in the pod with the AC.

You can't circle around the striders unless you want to greet a horde of rocket devastators, shield devastators, and hulks aiming their rockets and guns at you. It's just not realistically/practically possible on higher difficulties like 7-9 - you'll just waste all of your reinforcements doing that. Do you play on lower difficulties exclusively? Because those tactics won't work on helldive.
Also, grenades are a limited resource unlike ammo that is available in greater quantity and is scattered throughout the map. You can't solely rely on impacts to take out scout striders.
They usually drop after you hit the legs 1-2
Although, if the devs make this a viable method of taking out scout striders then I'd be ecstatic!
Frustration = challenging
Those chicken legs aren't big enough of a target to hit in an intense firefight. And they'd still take 2 shots to kill. So the frontal plate remains as the best place to shoot at.
