and it said it was optional
Hell, I don't even recall seeing any PSN linking thing when I first booted up the game. It certainly never impacted my ability to play the game. So, if it was unrequired before for game functionality then there is no reason for it to suddenly be forced.
Not everyone can make a PSN account. God knows I can't for various reasons, had the psn account been required on launch I know plenty of people would've refunded the game. But now its far past the normal refund windows for most and some people are well and truly ♥♥♥♥♥♥ by this change for no reason.
Especially because Steam is available in countries that don't have access to PSN.
What about money back for people who lose their access like this?
Or with people who don't want a PSN account?
Do they get their MONEY BACK?
PS: PSN is by far the most unsafe thing of all. PSN is hacked on average every 2 years.
April 2011: Hackers Access Personal Data of 77 Million Sony PlayStation Network Users
May 2011: Personal Details on 25 Million Sony Online Entertainment Customers Stolen
June 2011: Sony Pictures Website Hacked, Exposing One Million Accounts
November 2014: Hackers Steal 100 Terabytes of Data from Sony Pictures
August 2017: Hacker Group Accesses Sony Social Media Accounts
September 2023: Sony Investigates Alleged Hack
October 2023: Sony Notifies Employees of Data Breach
Additionally, if it had been, I'm certain a rather sizable portion of us would not have bought it in the first place.
Only 69 out of 195 countries allow for a psn account, and Helldivers was sold in 190 countries. That's active players from 121 countries that are being cut off and will no longer be able to play.
