Macros for Strategem Calldowns - Against Rules or Ok?
Hello,

I was considering setting up buttons on my mouse to press and run a short macro to execute a strategem call down. The macro would just hold control and press arrow keys quickly at the push of a mouse button.

My question is, is this considered cheating or against TOS?
Will the anti-cheat consider this cheating resulting in a ban?

If anyone knows for SURE, please link a statement from the devs or official forums.

Thank You

At the end of the day, it's not PvP, so no one's going to stop you, but we may have to put you down for siding with the Automatons.

I did it to test, didn't work. The game refused to register the inputs as stratagem commands.
It is probably against ToS. General rule of thumb, if you have to ask if something is a no-no, it probably is.

It's the intended experience to input commands manually, so it would be going against the spirit and purpose of the game.
While "cheating" is a bit strong a term, I do imagine it'd be the same as playing Lethal Company but with Discord chat instead.

I just realized the other day that I've finally muscle-memory learned all my favorite strats from this game, just like I did with Helldivers 1. If you've ever played fighting games you'll be really familiar with a lot of the movements they have you make, PLUS a lot of them sort of draw out little designs, some of which are very appropriate for what they are. For instance, I believe the Thunderer artillery barrage in HD1 was ⬅️⬇️⬆️⬆️➡️⬇️ which is drawing a little arrow down, like "strike here."

They're quite easy once you get the hang of it. Next time you're being chased and you're freaking out just try to remember to calm yourself down and type in the 3-7 arrows and get it done. You'll get there, I thought I was the fastest draw in the west when it came to reinforcing people but I have a buddy that must have a controller embedded in his brain he's so damn fast.

Without even looking, my kit is:
Reinforce: ⬆️⬇️➡️⬅️⬆️
Orbital Gatling: ➡️⬇️⬅️⬆️⬆️
Orbital Laser: ➡️⬇️⬆️➡️⬇️
Disposable Anti-Tank: ⬇️⬇️⬅️⬆️➡️
Minigun Turret: ⬇️⬆️➡️⬅️

About the only strat that I don't regularly use that I don't remember is the Hellbomb... that combo is a tangle of nonsense.

Again, you'll get it. Just stick with it! Friend me if you wanna play sometime :)

I saw a streamer who was bragging about soloing helldiver difficulty using them. Pretty sure a logitech macro could do it. People will know if you are using it since they can hear you punching in codes.

I use that audible cue to know if someone else is calling in the reinforcement or if I need to, not sure what that will sound like if someone uses a macro that does it in milliseconds.

I am going to guess that you did it wrong. Macros do work in the game. I don't think they are planning on banning for it, but it is definitely against the spirit of the game. The key sequences are meant to be a challenge when you are under stress trying to get that airstrike in before you get overrun.

Personally I am not very concerned if someone else wants to do it that way while playing with me. Some folks have difficulty with entering sequences.

Macros have been part of online gaming since the 2000s. They're accessibility and ease of use, and have been integrated in many games with lots of inputs for many years (Mostly MMOs like WoW, who has had macros since launch that are customizeable for ability rotations, roleplay, all kinds of uses with their ingame command API).

The only 'questionable' part is that you have to use third party software to use macros in Helldivers, but if its for a good reason, like actual mobility or accessibility reasons, I don't see why not.

I've already memorized reinforcement, resupply and eagle airstrike/500kg since they are incredibly easy inputs that take half a second. The game does fully read keystrokes with no delay so you can input them extremely quickly even as a human.

Realistically it's no problem, it's not a competitive game where things like that matter, and it's a good idea for people with physical defects or injuries that prevent them quickly punching in the codes. I prefer to learn the codes, but it would be cool to switch them to voice commands for immersion.

Being that the game has a Kernal level DRM, I dont think you'll be able/allowed to use macro's to play. Takes away the mid game panic of inputting a strat

I do it and haven't been banned or got a warning. There's nothing remotely competitive about the game i don't see why u shouldn't
