Are Helldiver units cannon fodder?
I saw how they treated these elites looking childish with all those patriotic democratic nonsense they spout about in those videos.

I'm new to the game and i don't know bout the lore but are Helldivers the real deal? We know theyre capable but expendable too. Are there tougher military branches?

the game answers it as soon as you boot up the game.

training of a helldivers on average is sitting are 20% statistical completion.
patriotism is sitting at an mediocre 97% (undemocrated traitors call this one brainwashing)
survival rate is sitting at 21%

here's my take:

from the intro and stuff we get the information that the average age of a helldiver is around 18 years old, and they've willingly joined the helldivers, probably after watching the same PSA we do when we boot up the game (ran on TV or something).

the "training" you receive in the tutorial is the canonical training - quick, teaches you the bare minimum to drop down, shoot some bullets and die, and on a small field, which means that a lot of recruits can be "trained" in a short time and at the same time.

i've heard from other places of the internet that super earth was at peace for the last 100 years but never stopped recruiting new helldivers, so SE has just a gigantic stockpile of frozen helldivers to call on.

also, from the contract at the end of the tutorial we can gleam a few other things, most notably that if ahelldiver dies, his equipment goes to the next helldiver.

therefore, a canonical helldiver's "carreer" is that a boy or girl grows up on watching war propaganda, and therefore wants to join the helldivers and be a hero.
they go to their local military branch as soon as they become 18 years old and signs up, then they get shipped to mars for their short "training".

after completing the training, they get frozen for an indeterminate amount of time, and when their time to fight comes, they just get dropped on a planet into a horde of enemies and die almost immediately.

there is a reason that people say "the average life expectancy of a helldiver is roughly two minutes."

also, helldivers are "the last line of offense", mainly deployed behind enemy lines far inside enemy territory to disrupt enemy operations, so the SEAF (super earth armed forces, basically main military) can advance easier.

I mean, we can see the training they get. Even if it's the last phase, the ridiculousness of the entire thing can be assumed to be indicative of the rest.

Last phase my ass. You don't wait till the last phase to teach your soldiers how to reload a gun.

Said with respect of course.
well just think about it we only see the last step on mars we have no idea if the diver goes trough additional training or not theorie is always important and who knows what the get tought in school.

infantry are expendable as a general rule

Hmm, I kinda like the thought that in reality Super-Earth is fighting over population...
So the higher ups created the Automatons (hi-tech AI) and even the Terminids (mutations of insects),
Then use these to "invade" our planets, and keep sending very expendable helldivers to "fight" the enemies of Super-Earth and Democracy.

I don't think we are clones, based on one thing alone, and that is: You can set your voice to random every time you spawn in, sometimes a feminine voice, other times a masculine.
And you can change your body-type as well.

True but the things we go over are just basic. Aiming? Reloads? Stratagems? Melee? Self care?

It lines up way to well.

well the insects give us something important that is e710 the fuel for our ship engines so they could be mutated to produce it and then escaped since they evolved to fast for super-earth to keep up

well that can be because most of the things you see there are very expensive and highly experimental like the contract at the end of the tutorial states so you would not get intoduced to something like this if they where not 100% sure you make it

A distinct lack of patriotism in this post.

Report to the democracy officer immediately.

not likely. the communists in eastern europe and china didnt need such a cockamamie looney tunes level plan to engage in genocide. i doubt a futuristic totalitarian dictatorship would need to either

lol

would your ability to reload a gun not be apart of this?

Sir we're just playing devil's advocate to show how deranged those who would speak against democracy are. I can assure you this thread has a 97% patriotism rate.

You first give a Soldier 6 months of training rigorously, by the thousands, for the SEAF, which is Super Earth's version of Starship Troopers basic military. You never see them. Helldivers are their more elite, but still expendable force of Super Citizens. Considering the Cryo pods we step out of, I would assume we are Cloned, like CCP Game's DUST 514 Immortal soldiers, with implants that means our conciousness is transferred immediately to our next clone, which gets dropped in, until we run out of biomass for that mission, or until the Super Destroyer is forced to leave orbit.
All of which sounds like a COMPLETE version of CCP Game's DUST 514, and still fits nicely into Helldivers' universe of how the government would send out their "Elites" of war, with General Brasch as our spokesman.

In my opinion Helldive is the only cannon difficulty so Helldivers are indeed best of the best to exfil out of that clown fiesta.
