i heard you can earn the in game currency for free while playing the game... my question is: is this true? and if so, how many hours does it take to get the money to buy a skin?

Yes it's true. I've had no shortage of it.

it is true, you find them in bundles of 10, randomly at points of interest. Skin vary in price from 175 to 400, never saw one pricier than that.

Yes you can. It is shared by everyone. It is however, up to random luck, only TEN per pile, and the most expensive costume in the shop (one worthless due to bugs, one that is my favorite) are 600 total for suit+helmet. And the warbond is like 1,000 or something.

Some costume are purely cosmetic. Some have armor weight+perk combos that only exist in the credit shop. And the fact armor stat is STILL BROKEN means the credit shop only versions of light stuff that is normally only heavy or medium is 120% superior.

So you can, and it isn't as bad as other games. But the grind is still grindy as ♥♥♥♥ so only people saying "But if I no-life it for 6 hours I can buy something!" defend the rate of gains.

Plus as the difficulty increases, more cargo containers with possible currency chances are replaced by rubble that don't have a chance for credits anymore anyways. So there is a strange curve of "Trivial has nothing. Medium-challenging has so many more chances whoo 40 credits that run!... I played impossible and limping back home barely alive had zero credits again"

HOWEVER. The Knight SMG is paid cash only super citizen specific. Knight SMG is better than any of the guns in the warbond. And you don't get a refund on your credits if you grind up for the steel veteran warbond, then buy super citizen later.

Again, the situation is much better than other games. The steel veteran warbond never expires so you can get it whenever. But people are also really overselling how "EZ fast" credit gains are too.

As a heads up, the pity "pay medals for credits" options in warbonds are finite, and start charging more medals for less. It flips from 10 medals for 100 credits to 50 medals for 50 real fast.

it doesnt take very long at all. i had enough currency to buy the premium battlepass after less than 20 hours of casual play and that costs 2-3x as much as a cosmetic.

You find quite a bit, I've found enough to buy the premium warbond and a few suits without going out of my way to find them.

I have all the rotaion shop armors, an extra 850 SC, and I haven't farmed much. Some people have 20k and are still farming because "number go up" I guess. As of now, you can get way more than you'll ever need.

I believe one of the prior patches changed this but I could be wrong. If not, then they announced their intention to change it and retroactively give the pass cost to players in that situation.

The guys telling you it doesn't take long aren't accounting for the boost of currency you get from the warbonds.

That is a one off boost designed to give you the illusion that it is easy to earn the premium currency. Once it is expended the "standard" means of earning premium currency is very VERY slow.

I was able to earn enough to buy everything on offer and have a spare 850SC, you are off the mark.

What is currently on offer is a fraction of what they intend to sell. And most of what you spent came from the one time warbond rewards not from "regular" earnings.

I have like 920 and I have spent some before this.

Sure, but my actual playtime is maybe half of that. You can walk away from the easiest difficulty mission with 10 stacks of super credits (5 on average) within 5 minutes time. Anyone who thinks you cannot easily earn SC doesn't understand how the game works.
Aethrys Mar 4, 2024 @ 2:27pm
The war bonds have super credit nodes that you can exchange medals for stacks of 100 super credits. Those combined with finding credits got me enough to buy the premium warbond for 1K + armor/helmet set from the super store in about 3 days of gameplay.

It's really not difficult, unless you're trying to buy every armor set in the store for some reason.
