Some costume are purely cosmetic. Some have armor weight+perk combos that only exist in the credit shop. And the fact armor stat is STILL BROKEN means the credit shop only versions of light stuff that is normally only heavy or medium is 120% superior.
So you can, and it isn't as bad as other games. But the grind is still grindy as ♥♥♥♥ so only people saying "But if I no-life it for 6 hours I can buy something!" defend the rate of gains.
Plus as the difficulty increases, more cargo containers with possible currency chances are replaced by rubble that don't have a chance for credits anymore anyways. So there is a strange curve of "Trivial has nothing. Medium-challenging has so many more chances whoo 40 credits that run!... I played impossible and limping back home barely alive had zero credits again"
HOWEVER. The Knight SMG is paid cash only super citizen specific. Knight SMG is better than any of the guns in the warbond. And you don't get a refund on your credits if you grind up for the steel veteran warbond, then buy super citizen later.
Again, the situation is much better than other games. The steel veteran warbond never expires so you can get it whenever. But people are also really overselling how "EZ fast" credit gains are too.
As a heads up, the pity "pay medals for credits" options in warbonds are finite, and start charging more medals for less. It flips from 10 medals for 100 credits to 50 medals for 50 real fast.
That is a one off boost designed to give you the illusion that it is easy to earn the premium currency. Once it is expended the "standard" means of earning premium currency is very VERY slow.
It's really not difficult, unless you're trying to buy every armor set in the store for some reason.
