I'm Done with Mortar Users
I don't care what level you are and I don't care what excuse you have. If you bring mortars into any mission besides eradication then I am absolutely going to kick you without hesitation or explanation. I'm sick and tired of being TKed by friendly mortars and the idiots that don't realize why it's a problem. It's not an accident when you deploy mortar for the 4th time in a match and rack up multiple teamkills for the 4th time in a row, you're just objectively dumb.

Then it attract patrol and called dropship to drop an army. Fortunately, we can hold it off but cost us every offensive stratagem to clear out the horde and we are lucky because there is only one direction where the enemy come from.

The real problem of these mortar user is not friendly fire but the mindset and selfish behavior that could cost the whole teammates or mission.

I am fine if you use mortar in survey mission as there will be breach/dropship when activate the scan. However, Icbm site can be done without firing a shot. you can place it AFTER we done the objective to lure enemy away but not right when we start the objective.

The issue is a Mortar is suppose to be dropped from afar and used to soften up an area before going in. Most folks throw them down near objectives and then fail to keep the enemy back so the mortar targets them and splashes on allies.
All it takes is one charger to rush in, get people to scatter, and then it becomes absolute chaos.
It's why I stick to gun sentries like the gatling.

This is a lot of words to say "I lack situational awareness" but ok. Generally speaking, it's easy to work around mortars if you are paying attention and aware they are there and yes sometimes they bug out and will drop mortars on a position where the enemies have been dead for several seconds but the damage they inflict on the enemies is A LOT and easily worth the few times that happens.

If you want to win the war against mortars, you need to warn people the devs designed them poorly instead of giving into the rage about "Bad idiot players are to blame for everything"

I have seen too many cases of people putting down a mortar a mile away from the enemy, and it dropping a mortar right on their own face instead of the enemies, oh my god.

But the tryhard gamer narrative of "Learn 2 play idiots!" and "Just don't get close to the enemy then!" is why people will keep using the mortars. Because when people present it as a """skill issue""", they will treat the buggy piece of ♥♥♥♥ the devs gave you as only a problem due to idiots, not jank.

I don't bring the deadly mortar outside of defense missions because the devs are the casuals who can't handle mortars, not because I'm worried about the players not knowing how to play around mortars.

Same reason I don't bring mines. Can't blame a player for being the problem, when they can no-clip under rocks, or have a bug corpse land on them to obscure it without setting them off. So that even people shooting to clear a path through mines to pick up lost samples get blown up, because of ♥♥♥♥♥♥ polish, not ♥♥♥♥♥♥ players.

You know the mortar won’t hit you if you’re not near the enemy right?
It's easy to avoid the mortar shells...

All mortar users will be kicked.

You're a filthy, casual mortar user if you think they're appropriate to bring on anything but eradication.

Skill issue.

Learn how to not be in melee range of enemies constantly when you have friendly mortars active, and you'll pretty much never get killed by them.

Faster to just shoot the mortar, even with all buffs it has no health.

Thanks for letting us all know you're someone who should be blocked. I've seen the mortar used to great effect in regular missions plenty of times. And so long as you don't spend all your time hugging the enemy, friendly fire is seldom an issue.

I think you’re just bad. Four mortars, four EMS mortars = utter democratic distribution.

Quit running to where the mortars are shooting, then

Throwing mortar before attacking bug nest = mung mode activated!
Using mortar to attack...... Never go full mortar.
Mortar is for retreating, like from bug holes.

this problem is easier solved by just destroying the mortar sentry on sight rather than kicking a potentially good player. Players will learn the hard(er) way not to use it. it is more so the devs fault for putting something full of jank into a game hoping we'd have more situational awareness. I get the pain though - the same has happened to me multiple times when the mission was going good and then I get TK'd by a friend or team mate because of indirect fire from a mortar sentry.

Use mortars for bots useing mortars for bugs is too risky because they have a tendency to get in your face.

Also a pretty effective use. Yeet one way out of the way of their advance and watch them shell the emerging bugs from safety.
