Make the stalwart a primary!
The stalwart has no business being a support weapon. It doesn't have the utility or the armor piercing. The general purpose machine gun has medium AP, so it's ideal against basically all termanids except chargers and titans. The stalwart is a great weapon and lots of fun to use, it just fails to justify itself next to something like the grenade launcher, which has better horde clear and utility. I don't think a buff would fix it either. Fundamentally, the weapon doesn't feel like a support tool. It's light, you can reload while moving, and it doesnt do anything a primary weapon can't do.

Also, if it became a primary I wouldn't feel obligated to run the breaker 100% of the time at higher difficulties...

Yes please make both machine guns primaries is really a must. There's really only 4 primaries I use breakerz breakerz incendiary, diligence and ap liberator. 2 for bug and 2 for robots. Stalwart and the other machine gun needs to be primaries.

Absolutely love the Stalwart, been looking for an Assault Rifle that comes even close to it but alas it's really a squad support weapon. Sadly I'm forced away from it over the grenade launcher.

Maybe keep it where it's at but give it 4 magazines instead of 3. I guess if they make it a primary nobody would take anything else probably.

cruzvilseck why make the base MG a primary? that actually does have utility because of the large magazine and the medium armor pen. it's not supposed to be super effective because it's the first support weapon everyone starts with. plus, it just feels heavier and more "supporty" (have to stop moving to reload, etc) The stalwart is completely different in that regard, and it would be balanced to make it a primary. The base MG though? Not so sure. Plus if base MG stayed support and stalwart became a primary... you could run both. Maximum dakka.

honestly? sure
it was a primary in the first game anyway

Helldiver, I think if you buffed other weapons to be more in line with the breaker's power AND if you gave the stalwart one less mag, (for a total of three instead of four) it would be a balanced weapon and people wouldn't feel obligated to take it. The stalwart would have consistent damage at longer range than the breaker but limited accuracy, long reload, and limited ammo. The breaker would be for raw DPS, and a higher ammo supply. That's just my take though.
lets wait what the balance patch brings i hope that fixes a lot of the weapons because the upgraded liberator and the diligence are just ♥♥♥♥ the standart versions are much better!

I completely agree. Would be awesome to get an LMG primary. There are more guns already in the game as you can see at the armory. I have 10 of 29 or however many you can get completely. There might be an LMG we get soon. Stalwart was a stratagem in HD1 - so I doubt it will be changed.

The first game has so many AP options for the primary slot that it let you mess around with some dumb builds but they would still be viable
hell the Railgun had less ammo and used to be in the primary slot, but you could bring that with an MG or some other back weapon

It occupies one of four strategem slots, it must therefore be balanced against all the other strategems in terms of overall worth. Also I don't think it has anywhere near a large enough mag.

If they're going to put a machine gun in a strategem slot, it should be something truly special.

Reload times on standard weapons is so long I feel it's skewing our perception. If reload times were less on primary weapons it could help considerably.

Stalwart feels so nice because of its large mag and the ability to hold out long enough to clear a patrol and in most cases an entire breach (with napalm or other support). I don't think raising damage on primaries is the only solution, they really need to take a look at magazine size and reload times. Hopefully the balance patches may make the game feel less clunky in that regard.

if you talk about worth then almost every strategem loses to something like the heavy mg nest because you can kill about 60 enemys with that thing and that makes it worth more then an airstrike that maybe kills 6 enemys right? it`s 10 times the value for a slot.
Everything has it`s own worth they could have made the decision to let you spawn with your heavy slot but you need to call it in same with the backpack it limits you but gives you a bigger base kit in return.
