Tips on handling terminids ?
I was on the automatons field last week, and now on terminid cause I'm a good democrate.

I do some solo missions first so I can see and learn what I can contribute to a team.
On the automatons side, i could solo level 5 missions quite easily, sometimes even 100% it.

On terminids front I get obliterated :D whatever build I bring, I barely can do the main mission objective. That's on the same level of difficulty (5)

My main struggle is that they are billions and rush to melee range from every angle.

Terminids is a lot of running and evading.

At higher difficulties, stopping to fight just means you're going to be constantly fighting enemies coming out of Bug Breaches. With light armor and the stamina booster, you can run way from nearly every fight.

Hit your objective and move. Don't hang around and fight.

Mortar and machine gun turrets help. I see a lot of people using Eagles as well.

Laser buddy in the sky is a good one for those small bugs.

You only really need armour piercing against the chargers which can be brought in by the autocannon or autocannon sentry.

The main thing is you want something that deals a lot of splash damage against the swarms.

Interesting, that was my tactic with automatons :) which did not work that well with the bugs so I was searching in the opposite direction : Heavy armored stand and fight build.

well I guess I'll go back to scout for a while and find out a solution.
best advice is bring either the auto shotty, the liberator AR, or the defender SMG. your primary is for hoard clear.

next is bringing either the revolver or smg secondary. revolver is actually mid ap, so i can handle damage anything that isnt a charger or a titan. smg secondary self explanatory.

as for strats, bombs are your friends. cluster, 500, bomb run, any 1 or 2 are fine. then P strike. relatively quick cool down, quick call in, can kill a charger or close up bug holes. it hurts titans too. finally, bring AP weapons. auto cannon, EAT, recoiless, or the strike(its a bit slow though). these are used specifically for chargers and the odd bile titan.

other options are the lazer drone to help keep space, the shield back pack because its good, the smoke strats to make escape easier, and all but mortar turrets do good work vs bugs. go into missions with a high mobility play style. you drop a strike or a bomb and keep moving till you get to an obj. then drops stuff like resupply or a turret. dont stop moving if you can help it, its what keeps you alive in later missions.

Thanks for your answers. I'll definetly jump back in my scout armor then.

if your main struggle is the amount of small guys, i really really reccomend the basic machine gun you get right away, it tears through anything thats not a charger or a bile titan. then you can just bring the 110mm rocket pods and the orbital railcannon to take out any big boys, then you got a spare slot for either a backpack or another orbital. that works great for me, another good option is the electricity gun, it can take out chargers with some persistence and it clears the little ones pretty good if theyre not on your ass.

Light armour
Breaker shotgun
Guard dog rover (laser one)
Anti tank or rail gun (For shooting chargers leg armour off)
Cluster eagle
Precision orbital

First tip i can give is to disregard the description on the shield backpack. It states that it only protects against fast projectiles which is entirely incorrect as it also blocks explosions and melee attacks. Helps a lot, especially with bile spewers.

Second tip is to bring any sort of area denial stratagem. Bug breaches will happen, and it's always a good idea to throw one of those on it to weed out the enemies.

Third tip is to not underestimate hunters, and preferably make them priority targets. They can, and will, stunlock you to death and just love to circle around you to attack you from behind.

Last but not least; Chargers are though, and can turn very well, but can still be easily juked by running around them. You can also just go prone when they face you head on, and you might just have them run over you without being damaged.

Right now armor isn't working as intended either. Doesn't give the levels of protection it's supposed to or at least, reliably? So sticking with light unless you just want to look cool is best.

I would say, Don't optimize the fun out of the game. Play to have fun!
That said, there ARE a few strategems and weapons I'd suggest-

The laser watchdog 100%, it never runs out of ammo and will keep killing the smaller annoying bugs as they pop up everywhere around you all the time, allowing you to focus on the more dangerous bugs.

The Flamethrower excels against the swarms of bugs. Burn them and run, keep them burning and eventually they die. Can even kill the charger by burning it and dodging around it. As a note, you can play the old videogame trick of causing a charger to run into a solid rock wall and it'll get stunned for a moment.

The Machineguns are very useful, volume is important. The Stalwart lets you stay mobile but the MG lets you pen armored bugs. Both have very effective uses.

The penatrator rifle generally underwhelming but here many bugs have weakpoints on their heads which are armored. With the Penatrator you pen the heads AND hit the weakpoint for greater damage.

Shotguns to the legs are a good way stun-cripple a bug, pretty reliably.

The Scythe laser doesn't stun bugs on hit which makes it poor for slowing bigger bugs. But it DOES have near infinite ammo to keep killing little bugs or destroy eggs with maximum efficiency, or drill the weakspots on chargers. People dislike it for bugs, or in general, but I think it can have applications in the team IF you have someone focusing on medium bugs for you.

be mobile dont stand your ground against them.
crowd clearing stratagems work well with guns to deal with the heavy armour.

focus hunters and kill the little bugs those bastards are quick to call reinforcements

Yeah if you see little bug standing still screaming, shoot it in the face as its calling in a bug hole.

I might suggest people try out orbital airburst. Its low cooldown and the fact it hits three times allowing more enemies to wander into its kill zone makes it pretty good.

1. Light armor, always.
2. Eagle Clusterbomb controls the hordes.
3. Railgun for chargers.
4. Guard Dog Rover for self defense and saving ammo.
5. 500kg bomb for Bile Titans.
