Autoclimbing should be optional
How many more times should I die because my character did something I didn't explicitly tell him to do? The movement system is otherwise very polished but it's absurd to me that I can just get killed because I had the audacity to glance a platform while sprinting away from enemies, and get caught in a standstill climbing animation that I didn't want.

You can, but holding shift (when running) will always auto-climb, hence the issue a lot of people have with it.

This is what my problem was, I should've been more specific originally lol.

Sprinting and climbing shouldn't be bound to the same key, it's akin to having W bound to reloading as well lmao, kinda weird that this slipped the devs.

Particularly when you can change the method by which space triggers climb, but it has no effect on whether you climb when running. A strange design decision in my opinion.

Makes me wonder if it was a decision at all, might be one of those cases where they give you a ton of advanced options for one specific thing, while somehow missing a broad and obvious option.

They made it pretty clear in the tutorial that if you always hold shift, you're gonna have a bad time.

They need to both fix it and make it optional.
What you can and can't climb often makes zero sense.

Whether it's explained in the tutorial or not, it's poor design to have conflicting actions like sprinting and climbing bound to the same key - this isn't an artistic choice, it doesn't change the gameplay in any meaningful or intentional way, it just adds another frustrating way for players to get killed.

Sprinting is for fast horizontal movement, climbing is slow vertical movement - if I'm running away or towards something, I should never stop moving unless I choose to do so.

Must make this change asap. Why is not done already?

I detest when I'm running through brush and my character decides to climb sideways on a shrub that you can run through. Wtf?
