Disappointing Community
Currently, Helldivers 2 is disappointing me due to its toxic community and rampant space politics that the players adopt. The community tends to troll, taunt, and tease in-character instead of answering questions or communicating like regular folk. It's frustrating to be met with space politics and hostility for not understanding game rules or questioning game logic. The cooperative nature of this game is losing its charm on me amidst the toxicity. How do I engage with people when a misunderstanding or an opinion leads them to heckle me in-character? I can't take them or the community seriously. They use genuine insults and mask it as a joke in-theme with the community. The official Discord is where I'm experiencing a lot of this. I don't engage with many community servers on Discord, so maybe this is just common for cult communities online.

Doing everything you mentioned in this post is way more fun than playing the game now.

"Toxic" -> Complaint dismissed.

Saying a lot yet providing little

This isn't the ARG where we heckle dumb comments? I thought the devs were doing a really good job emulating smooth-brain complaints and opinions.

You're telling me real people are this whiny?

Blame the devs not the players, you reap what you sow. Welcome to the club.

Use teamspeak/ventrillo instead then.

Not sure what this is about, but as a rule of thumb on any coop shooting game that requires actual team play to win is: be a good team player.

What does that mean? Mainly:

- Obey the team leader (or in this case the host of the game).
- Don't wander off on your own.
- Cover your teammates back.
- Communicate.

Hope this helps.

That's good advice, however, this post is a result of me asking the Discord community about how long the Weapons Experimentation Effect lasts for the new Mech. I didn't enjoy playing with full teams of mechsuits. I was replied by a few folk teasing me about being a sympathizer, and that they hope it never ends just because I asked. I was already weary of the community, I should have known that many people there weren't taking anyone's comments seriously. I responded by saying it was a genuine question and that I wasn't roleplaying. Lots of people jumped on that message saying I can't take a joke. I just wanted to know how long these effects last. And yeah, tbf I didn't take it well. :dos2teddy:

Absolutely hate that this is accurate.

Playing challenging with a group while we figure our way through the changes the devs have made and found that basically everything about the game now feels different to the first couple of weeks. Regardless of armour characters feel slower to move/turn/vault, stratagem damage is even more inconsistent than on release, bugs clipping around and through objects even more than release week, with each patch the player clipping has gotten worse (clipped completely through the ground, across 10 feet and then got yeeted back in to the air), the bug where you get stuck after picking up a resource is now a 50/50 chance of happening and is now only fixable if you take damage.

Every class of enemy now takes longer to kill (Shot one of the smallest ones in the ass and it took three rounds from the explosive liberator...wtf), charger spam (23 chargers in one 40 minute challenging game...wut are the devs smoking?), stalker spam (6 stalkers per patrol, stalker patrols every 100m), the meteorite storm being undodgeable unless you look directly up (There is apparently an indicator on the floor for a second or two before impact? Only indicator I can see at all is a blue haze AFTER impact).

Then there is the rewards not working, continual crashing, intermittent rubber banding, the game ignoring inputs at random...how badly can one ♥♥♥♥ up their own game?

Absolutely fuming that I've effectively spaffed money up the wall on a product that changed night and day in its first month of release and gets progressively more buggy seemingly with each day.

Edit: And now every time I close the game it locks up and I have to force restart. Absolutely excellent job, Devs.

I had a friend who used to call me a civilian when he was in the army as a taunt or insult. We're all Helldivers in game but the community calls us civilians when they don't like us

Someone teach this cat how to turn safe mode off on his railgun.

I get it, it's like when some hardcore players like to call others "bambies" when you complained about people being toxic in games like Battlefield when spawn camping or so. Don't quite remember on which forum this was.

You'll find many a-holes everywhere, sadly. Also the more hardcore the game/gameplay the higher chance of a-holes finding %.
