What's going on with the reviews?
Why is this game's reviews not astroturfed? This is published by Sony.

Suicide Squad on the otherhand is being heavily protected by steam, and it's published by Warner Brothers digital.

How does this review scamming work? What are the rules?!

From what I've seen by reviewers and consumers, Suicide Squad has good gameplay and the game works out of the gate. The issue with Suicide Squad is that it's mission variety is repetetive and it's story is arguably pretty bad. But even then, even people critical of Suicide Squad have said that there's moments of good writing and cool missions, ergo, the good review score.

Helldivers 2 has a repetitive mission structure, no story content, microtransactions, and even now is struggling to run correctly for most people.

Don't get me wrong, I like Helldivers 2, but the reviews are justified. I haven't gotten through even a single mission where at least one person hasn't disconnected, and trying to run a mission with 2 or less people is pain.

I havent played Suicide Squad and have no dog in that fight - but why is the score stratospherically different between Meta and Steam?

If you mean the Metacritic user score, those are people who don't even own the game and have no interest in playing it.
If you mean the score from press, they are people who literally are paid to move from game to game and never stick with a live service looter shooter type game.
The people on Steam, largely, knew what they were buying and got what they wanted. A very well made looter shooter. Who would have thought the studio that created the combat system in the Arkham games that was so good other developers copy them, somehow managed to make a game that feels great to play in Suicide Squad? What a shocker.
I couldn't tell you a single thing about the Suicide Squad members and don't give a ♥♥♥♥ about DC heroes. The game just feels great to play, it's really that simple. Plenty of those negative reviews you are talking about even concede that fact.

Scamming? I left a negative review and it matches my feelings about the game. 100 bucks says this game is dead in a month or less.
you obviously didn't play the first one. It was active up until about yesterday.
SSKTJL isn't even a finished game, the "last" boss is a rehash and they tell you HOLD ON KIDDO, WE'RE MAKING MORE JUST YOU SIT TIGHT AND WAIT.
Maybe people just don’t like this game?

First had more meaningful progression and didn’t lock things behind difficulty modes

This game is I’ll die quickly without fast updates

It's a multiplayer game where the multiplayer doesn't work adn the missions don't scale, making 95% of the playerbase unable to do anything beyond medium or challenging missions.

It deserves those day 1 bad reviews.

Well, Helldivers 2 is massively more popular than Suicide Squad and has a better future waiting for it.

I just played hours on end together with some Steam friends, I lost connection a couple of times but joining back on your friend is luckily quite fast. Playing with randoms is reportedly bugged though.

The people playing Suicide Squad are enjoying the game. I enjoyed it, had really fun combat and the best feeling movement of any looter shooter.

If this doesn't seem fun to you then I dunno what to tell you.. You ain't a gamer.
SS brought absolutely nothing new to the table. we have enough generic looter shooters. movement isnt enough to get me to buy a game/
and besides i just dont like SS. not alot of poeple do. look at sales numbers for comics and the movie flop. WB keeps trying to make them popular, people just dont care tho.
i find the characters annoying, especially Harley Quinn.

When they fix the problems I'll change the review. I don't care how it compares to Suicide Squad; I didn't buy Suicide Squad.

actually a good game if you can run it
All I'm gonna say is, Suicide Squad has less than 4 thousand reviews in it's twoish weeks of release.
Helldivers 2 has 8 thousand reviews. It just released.

Either one is an enormous failure, at which point review tampering is irrelevant, or one is such an enormous success that the first can't compete.
Review bomb, connection issues and crashes pre hotfix patch
My guess is straightforward: there was a lot of advertisement and day 1 reviews for Suicide Squad. The people who bought it probably self-selected to people likely to like it versus the reviewers who wanted more for it to stand out. This game has had a lot of issues with its launch. Further, there were no reviews or anything else coming out for today, so you have a lot of people who bought it expecting it to work, thus also the difference in number of reviews.

That sounds like evidence of review deletes to me. Steam Charts do not seem to include either SS or Helldivers for me to check the sales data
"How does this review scamming work? What are the rules?!"

Whenever a game you like doesn't have the rating YOU think it should, it's being scammed with fake reviews.

When the user rating matches what you think it should be then it's not scam/fake etc reviews.

Simple.

This is a comment by a retarded consumer, born to buy.
