What is worse Denuvo or Nprotect?
They are both kernal level programs so i'm just curious.
Or would EAC be a better compassion?
引用自 Rogue:
Denuvo is worse of course. It helps no customers whatsoever as it makes owning the game a hassle, unless you the "customer" is a corporate shill or actually has investment in the industry.

Kernel anti-cheat, EAC, nProtect, etc, helps mitigate rampant cheating or direct hacking(You won't like it when you suddenly crash or worse...) that destroys the customer experience, not possible to stop all as it's a kernel level battle of cat and mouse especially from the professional hacker (Not the script kiddies buying the cheat tools but cheat creators or worse)...

Only issue with anti-cheat is for linux variants/steam deck users. But windows games never say it's supported on those platforms anyway and you "might" workaround some of it via some emulation hi-jinks tweaks.

FYI, EAC is no different from nProtect. They are both matured anti-cheat by now, decades++ experience and improvements. They both "invade" your perceived privacy like IP address/MAC address, etc. But they are mild compared to the "smart"phone... Anyway here's a link to see some on steam. https://steamdb.info/tech/ , scroll down to see the anticheat portion,

The problem is putting this inside of a pve only game. If this was pvp then no one would care, but there is literally zero incentive to cheat and any cheater could just be voted out or kicked by the host, thus defeating the entire purpose of anti-cheat software.
Cheaters will cheat, no matter if PvE or PvP........people will try to cheat in some ways sooner or later, it's the human nature

Good job, you missed the point.

It matters because it affects the integrity of the game, the grind, community wide missions, progression, cheaters griefing, and ruining leaderboards. It's a live service game.

I agree bro, this nprotect anti-cheat has such bad reputaion. An example of cheating the devs brought up was cheaters getting 9999 samples or something. I feel maybe a good solution for countering this example of cheating, is putting hard caps on all types resources when exiting a mission. So even if someone has 9999 of some resource it will just be cut down to the cap of said amount. Or even as you said, adding a kick/blacklist system for other types of cheating, if there is any for a PvE game. Let the players handle who they don't want in their lobbies.

Your favourite game, Elden Ring, uses a rootkit anti-cheat. Are you complaining in the elden ring forums too? You gonna uninstall it?

All three are kernel-level anti-cheats. They all share similar risks in compromising your system security, and similar strengths in limiting which cheat producers have the talent to circumvent the protection.

For something like Helldivers, there likely isn't much incentive to cheat. Any of them will probably be grossly effective. A few cheats may work their way through - get patched - and eventually disappear as the cost of an arms race can't be justified.

Compare this to something like Tarkov where there is financial incentive to cheat with real-money-transfer demand between players. In case like that buying additional copies and even paying for cheats is quite literally an investment. In Helldivers? I don't see us being able to trade, so the financial incentive is likely non-existent.

The jist (on windows) Microsoft "must" sign anything that installs to Ring 0 (rootkits, full system access). Clearly Microsoft isn't going to sign anything that is malicious, so while anti-cheats get the pass, cheat makers have to do things the hard way.

Thus, for something like Helldivers, most any one of these kernel-level systems will all but completely wipe out cheating. IMO, I think it's overkill. But I'm not the market researcher deciding how much damage anti-cheat will do to a brand compared to audiences encountering cheaters.

People cheat on everything, so don't kid yourself, I've completely fine with this anti cheat, anybody complaining is a cheater

And this reply is a textbook example of why you shouldn't even waste your time typing it when you have anything smart to say on the internet in general, especially if it's long and especially on the Steam forums.

EAC is less deep into the system when running a game, but the devs have already stated why they're using Nprotect. Who Cares about Denuvo, that's its own anti cheat. If you see anyone bringing up this issue, they cheat in games themselves. That being said EAC doesn't prevent cheaters and is wayyy to easy to get into, for ex: games like Dead by Daylight, its been using it for 6-7 years now and hackers run rampant through lobbies
flawless logic. ignorance and confidence go hand in hand

Its not my favourite game, I guess since you looked at my profile you would know what my favourite game is. I can get why Elden Ring has anti cheat since there is PvP elements to it, and it only starts when the game starts. Helldivers 2 is PvE and the anti-cheat they picked seems to have terrible reputation. Plus nprotect was made to run all the time even when the game is closed. Hey man, I get your point, I am just giving an opinion and voicing concerns I have. People shouldn't just be told to shut up and sit in the corner. Open discussion is good for a game that people care about. Unless they are being complete pricks about it.

If fact i have a question, I have razer synapse for my keyboard, and i use r2modman for risk of rain 2. If nprotect runs all the time will i just be locked out of the game forever? If you know bro or know someone who does, it would informative to know

The only thing you need to be worried about is if the anti-cheat (or anything for that matter) asks you to disable HVCI like Naraka Bladepoint used to.
