For anyone disappointed in New Game+
Having beaten the game 100% I started NG+ hoping for a more challenging run. The start seemed promising with additional big monsters placed near spawn, but you quickly find out you are overpowered with all the upgrades from previous run and NG+ is actually way easier.

So I tried a kind of a challenge run, upgrading the stats to 2/2/2/2/2/2, and never beyond that. I also never bought potions from the store, leaving max potions at 7 by the end. As a bonus limitation I never used the decoy, that thing just completely breaks the boss AI. With these limitations the game became fun and challenging again for someone who had already beaten it.

Sense of danger was always there since you don't become overpowered even against the starting enemies. All the boss fights took maybe 10-20 attempts to beat, and I always finished them with 1hp and 0 potions left. Had to also carefully think which cards and equipment to use on each boss fight. And most of all, I was forced to actually learn their attack patterns instead of just kind of brute force mashing my way to victory.

Having beaten the game like this, I think it could be possible to do a no upgrade at all run, but I barely got by the bosses like this so I imagine it would be pretty damn hard. The scavenger boss especially turned into an absolutely brutal shotgun duel where every shot mattered. I don't think I could have beaten the final boss so I just went for the good ending with the full manual.

If you want to get more out of it, that isn’t just a harder combat challenge, try the randomizer mod. Tunic is a surprisingly open game if you know how to get pass its barriers without the "intended" tools, so the randomizer feels very much like an open-ended adventure.

Easy to install and remove. Just follow the instructions and have some fun. And now, imagine a randomizer with a base stats challenge run hahaha XD

Dang it, I've been fighting the urge to keep playing this game, since it has already eaten so many hours of my time, and then you go and post THIS...
How am I supposed to complete my commissions if I'm playing Tunic for hours and hours!? lmao

Jokes aside, that's fantastic that there's even a randomizer at all. Tunic is a fantastic game on its own, but once you learn where everything is and how to beat each encounter, it does get to be a little easy, so having the option to throw everything on its head like that is phenomenal. :tunicgasp:
