I know I'm not being helpful in solving your primary issue, but I'm just trying to point out that learning a new control scheme and relearning it for other games is not really difficult to do at all, very rarely will it trip you up, and in no way will it "untrain" you. If anything it will just teach you how to be more aware of what you’re pressing.
I'll simply give up on this game, it's not worth the time investment.
