Faries just outright ruin this game for me
They hover just right outside your reach and force you to drop your guard to try and dash after them- you miss, you die from freezing/etc.
You cant reflect their projectiles back at them, they always bounce to the side, so guarding is useless.
You can't really outrun them because they fly/ignore terrain/etc.
And they typically spawn in groups of 2-3 to deliberately make defending a lot harder then it needs to be.

And I'm stuck over by the garden knight. Try to leave? Faries freeze you/gun you down. Leave another way? Faries freeze you and crocs eat you. Try to bypass those all together? Yep, more faries.

I don't see how I can get out of here, and forcing myself to fight the garden knight is just more stress then I'm already dealing with.

Honestly? Cut on No Fail Mode and deal with the situation. If you wanna go back and explore other areas, do that. If you haven't upgraded any stats, you probably wanna try and do that too. There's an item you get later that will make fighting them a lot simpler.

I don't know what you're doing differently to have so much trouble with them, I haven't found them to be all -that- bad... a tad annoying, sure, but far from impossible to deal with, even with just a stick.
And echoing the guy above me, if they're *really* giving you a hard time, you can just use No Fail Mode to get out of there to go exploring, you might find some useful stuff out there if you're thorough... and careful (or invincible).

Looked into what "No Fail Mode" does- Nice to know the game has a built in function for speedrunning.

There is an item you can obtain that will make dealing with them easier. Afaik this item can be obtained before you need to fight them. It's a ranged weapon found in a hidden location which is situated at the north end (top left) of the starting area/overworld.

What Nicholas said, and you can even get it just by EXPLORING the Overworld area for secret shortcuts and areas.

You can kill them pretty easily with parries if you don't have a ranged attack yet.

Never had a problem with them, if you just don't approach them they will literally fly into your melee range.

A single shot from the cheapest ranged weapon you get in the game and they are dead.

Like fairly early, you can get that weapon, and then the fairies die faster than it took for them to all activate.
