Special attack is wonky?
No spoilers but I get how to do the attack, I know the button inputs.
But for some reason when I press them together, at the same time, it... does not do it.
I can maybe do a special attack once in about 20 tries using the same button presses.

What gives?

Are you referring to the clue on one of the memo pages? The "memo notes" pages with actual scribbled notes? I think it was like page 52 and 53. Is this what you mean?

If so then the way I did it was practicing it several times next to the save statue so I could get all my mana back. I found the best way to do it the most often was using only the side of my thumb to hit all 3 buttons at the same time. I had the most success doing it this way and I was able to get the item that the memo page had a drawing of.

I was just talking about the 2 button one, did not even know about the three button one yet.

There's a sword special attack which is a rolling thrust, and the magic special attack I won't spoil. To do the rolling thrust, you have to be moving and press roll very slightly before attack. The timing is pretty tight, but you can nail it with some practise.

Ah ok. You meant something other than what I thought you might have meant. I wasn't sure so I asked and talked about it a little if it was the part I thought you might have meant.
Don't worry. I didn't really spoil anything as you have no idea what I am talking about until you find that manual page. For both giving you a hint how to do it and where to actual do it. You will need that manual page.

Oh. I have never done it. Very early on in the game there is a manual page that shows this if it's what you are talking about. I tried doing this for a few minutes and nothing ever happened. So it must be a pain to do with the timing.
Do you have hit the attack button almost instantly after the roll because I was never able to do it. I might have to switch the sword to a different button to do it. But then that throws me off on which button I always use to put my sword in. No wonder I could never do it. :/

There is no three-button special attack. The sword one should work as long as you have enough stamina, and I was able to do it by hitting the buttons at the same time (on a controller). If you're playing on keyboard then there is the potential of ghosting occuring, too.

There is a 3 button "special attack", but you don't use it for combat but in a very specific area for a very specific purpose.
