Didn't think I'd be the only person who appreciates JSRF as much as I do. Now that you mention it, I'd say it's in my top 3 of all time. It's a true timeless gem. The cell shading graphics were unique and looked as good as the clip for this game. Also agree about that last bossfight. Most bosses were fairly easy or a bit of a challenge and some parts had me screaming in frustration. The part I loved was the different achievements of moves to go for in the zones. Stay in the air for X amount of time. Do X amount of those jump bonus things, I forget what it was called. lol
The thing I enjoyed was being so high up and jumping from one skyscraper to another. Or, the carnival type zone, with the different attractions. There was a roller coaster type ride you hitched a lift on to achieve something and timing was critical. If you missed, you had to go all the way around again. Exploring was half the fun too.
Anyway, Google. There's plenty of free downloads for PC available. Since I last posted, I d/l'd a copy and I'm going to give a go adter I post. Oh man, I just realised I'm going to be at the bus station grinding the rails again for the first times in years. lol
EDIT: I remember now! There were parts of the roller coaster where you had to put a tag. Some of those were tricky.
Googling when I have posted this. Much thanks for the suggestion.
EDIT: THANK YOU! Hover looks awesome! Couldn't find Butterflies.
Yes. It definitely feels connected somehow. Jet was one of my favourites when I played JSRF. Can't wait to play Hover. It looks awesome.
Much appreciated. Actually, I eventually found it after a harder search. It doesn't look that bad, but I got to say Hover looks better. Butterflies seems to have gone strictly old skool, making it similar to JSRF. Whereas Hover appears to have taken JSRF to a new level in terms of colourful graphics.
Glad I stumbled across LLB and started this thread. Found out about Hover and Butterflies as a result.
Y-you do know this is a fighting game though, right?

Also pleased to see I'm not alone and other people regard JSRF in the same way I do. But, like I said in a previous post, I didn't think I'd be alone. JSRF was a gem and doesn't get the recognition it deserves. I totally agree with Sorroh on this. Perhaps this is part of its appeal. Hidden gems always have the power to feel more valuable. Still, whether or not it's hidden or not doesn't make a difference with JSRF. A gem is a gem. lol
Thanks for the excellent link YinYin! It's much appreciated!
It appears to be the case. Now that I know this is a fact, I'm naturally curious about why the devs of LLB chose JSRF and what exactly is the connection. Perhaps some of the devs worked on JSRF. Or, maybe they're simply paying homage to a game they love as much as we do.
Think I'll Google and see what I can dig up. Thanks for your comment.
Fantastic! Hearing this makes starting the thread on a bit of a whim worthwhile. It's definitely not a thread I regret, that's for sure. It has provided me with other versions that are similar.
The game in YinYin's link (Neon Tail) looked remarkably close to JSRF. It's a free download and they leave the price up to you. I don't mind that. I'm generally happy to donate a few £'s to a dev who is trying to promote their game.
Also, I don't mind playing betas. Space Engineers and Subnautica were beta for a long time and both are awesome games. No Man's Sky should have done that. If they had, I don't think the fiasco of its release would have been so bad.
Anyway, I appreciate your comment and I'm happy my OP inspired you in its own small way. Enjoy yourself! That's the primary reason why we play games. =)
