SOLVED: Game won't start, Crash after uplay screen goes away (where game should launch).

UPlay loads, says failed to sync achieves (typical), skip, uplya goes away then comes right back saying failed to sync achieves, closes after hitting skip again.

This something new? Game don't support newer gpu's?

Ain't played the game in a while. It launches fine on desktop but at the time I was still in bed playing on tv/laptop.

Solved: Uninstalled all intel drivers/comand center> reboot> reinstalled intel drivers>runs great on 2070mq now.

Still baffles me why this one game when other ubi/FC games no problems. Oh well, glitches.

you have a corrupt cloud save it sounds like

you can try to fix it .. but i dunno how well ..and you may be better off starting a new game

you should always back up your saves

its not that hard to do .. and just keep the setting in the uplay client for cloud saves off

that page also has i link on how to fix a corrupt same for Far Cry primal .. the steps should be about the same ..the only diff step would be what folder the game uses for your save

again for the steam version the game uses folder id number for Far Cry 5

of letters and numbers Varies from system to system* \ 4311


the Uplay only version they go in

you may also wish to uninstall your Uplay client and reinstall the latest version .. but back up your save files first ..as outlined here

step 1

EXIT STEAM ............ YES , EXIT STEAM FIRST

STEP 2

1) open task manager, (Win key + X) find the following process: UbisoftGameLauncher.exe, and end the process.

2) After that, go to add \ remove programs in your windows control panel

(press win key + X select apps and features .. look on the right side and select Programs and features) .

select uninstall UPlay and then exit once its done

STEP 3

3) Download and reinstall Uplay PC from https://uplay.ubi.com , as this will update the client to the latest version .

STEP 3.5 VERY IMPORTANT .... ------>>>> REBOOT your PC


STEP 4
4) RESTART STEAM and Launch the game again

me ??? i just keep that silly uplay setting for cloud saves off .. its less headache .. and easy to back up my saves to a thumb drive and copy and paste em back in .. that way i can have multiple saves for this and other uplay games and not worry if some thing does not sync right

also you can just copy your desktop save on to a flash drive plug it into your desktop thats working .. and copy the save file over .. should fix it

remember each save is 4 very small files .. as long as your on the same uplay account they will work ..you just need to place then in the proper folder number

save files for far cry 5 are encrypted to your individual uplay account ..so no you can not share saves with other users on separate uplay accounts like ya could with FarCry 4

this is due to the fact that Far Cry 5 users silver bars to unlock content in your game that you either find in game.... or purchase from the store ,like guns outfits and other crap ya do not really need ..since every week they still give away silver bars just for playing user maps ..see your uplay client for details on that

I can remove the save, it's on desktop anyway. Though I was just going to play trhough again as it's a nice calm game to screw around with in the evenings after work.

corrupt save yes will stop the game from starting
happened to me with both FC 3 and 4 ..ever since then i back up my own saves and keep that silly cloud save setting OFF in uplay settings

I like clouds on most games sicne i play on multiple machines. I've deleted saves and will try later when i'm not on GTA on desktop :) Though some games like skyrim/fo4 etc that have rather large save files i tend to turn off cloud and manually transfer saves.

they fixed the error but it took months ..only way to fix it was reinstall the uplay launcher

and it only affected users on steam ..not uplay only users .. so for FC 5 i bought a uplay only copy .. saved a ton o cash too .. since now i only buy uplay only copies of ubi games .. you can find em on sale cheaper then steam sells em for

and now with the Uplay PLUS thing you do not even need to buy games .. just pay 15 measly bucks a month and you get all the games and DLC as they are released

is uplay perfect no .. but it works better then steam for me for ubisoft games ..and yep i like ubi games

looking forward to far cry 6 and the new rainbow six game ..already got a few games off my uplay + subscription installed that yea i didnt have to pay full price for ..and i like em so far ..plus with no steam involved i have one less launcher to deal with ..that only added DRM , and charged me more for DLC all the time

plus i have to add ..i have never had any issue with Ubisoft support ...steam on the other hand .. support is horrible ..you wait days for answers ..

ubi has support right over twitter ..you get instant help alot of the time

yea i never really had any issues with FC4. Loved ethat game, along with 3. IDK why but I never could get into 5 too much. Just seemed limiting for one reason or another. Fun fishing game though (oddly enough which was why i was trying to play it...).

Be nice if it was just steam cloud, adn had steam acheives, but for some reason that's too much to ask for with FC. AC they did it.

I got 4 on uplay, one of them 40% discounts on launch and figured how bad can it be? O...no forums, help, steam screenshots (unless forced) etc. Was going to buy it on steam to have in library but never have sicne it's no use. no achieves .

Yea uplay shoudl be updated as i play bang everybody in greece game w/no issues.

This is dumb. Now it sycs saves but still don't launch. Deletd uplay again and before launching removed all saves manually, still wouldn't launch. FC4 and Primal both launch fine. O well, don't make any sense.

dunno Ben sounds like an issue with your laptop .. what exact model is it and how are ya hooking it to the TV .. what res is the TV outputting to .. i hope not 4 k ..as not many laptops will work with FC 5 in 4 K ..( ie you may need to change the settings in your TV 's menu to support the res your running )


also which Driver for the vid chip are you running ..and what is the vid chip in question ? you said it runs and loads fine on your desktop ..so its gotta be some thing with that laptop or its drivers

have you tried a different video driver ? or are you relying on windows Drivers ?

also see the read me for FC 5 .. it lists the system requirements and also says

Yea it's got to be something stupid with this particular machine. What gets me is the Editor works, Primal, 4/3 launches/plays just fine.

I tried just runnin off the 15" screen alone to rule out things, still won't go past the initial FC5 splash after uplay does its things.

thats an intel video driver version i think ???????????????

run DDU and do a clean install of your Nvidia drivers would probably help

plus play only with the lappy plugged in with a cooling pad under it , as you do not wanna burn up that vid chip on an expensive laptop

make sure in Nvidia control panel the game is set to Maximum performance .. not balanced or any other setting

those max Q laptops are supposed to save on power and have slightly less powerful GPUs so they are thin and light

Yea thats just how Steam reads it. Idk why, does it on main pc when i had the igpu enabled. On external display only the nvidia gpu can be used.

I tried to set it to launch with nvidia, set the exe to launch with nvidia, even disabled the intel one/removed its stuffs and still cant get past FC5 splash screen. It has hung on that screen indefinatly though a couple times, giving me hope.

Other day even deleted files and let it re dl them all instead of just copying from desktop.

Ive removed all other software razer related, intel, basically as bare as i could and nothing. Really baffles me, Just due to that particular hardware not wanting to launch. Never had something this dumb that dont work lol.

Yea the max q are basically the “m” variants nowadays. The 90watt tdp version came with it. Performance is finally on par with my desktop stock 1070 (well the default clock thats supposed to be on a 1070, mine runs at 1960mhz or something “stock”).
