Far cry 6 isn't coming to steam what are your thoughts?

Epic has given me over 20 free AAA titles. Steam has never given me anything free in 12 years. I say more power to Epic, and Steam better start taking notes or they are going to be the myspace of game launchers.

As I said, the free games gimmicl is seriously gold.
I own the whole Metro franchise on both Platforms now (except Exodus on steam) because epic gave them to me for free

Is it true that if you get it on Epic that you don't actually need to have the Epic launcher open everytime you're going to play, and can always just launch it straight from Uplay?

Yes. Once you link epic with uplay account, you can download the game from uplay and launch from there directly.
I always bought ubisoft games from egs whenever I have $10 coupons.

Yeah got the division 2 for 5 bucks back at xmas 2019 only used epic to install it and launch it the first time and just played it through uplay afterwards. Seems like a lot of the freebies they gave away also are basically 'drm' free in that they will play just fine without the epic launcher being active.

yeah I might be heading in that direction as long as I don't have to use epic games store. I have been on steam very long time and I like to have all games in same place.

Meh. Considering the disappointment that is this game, I'm in no hurry to buy 6 anyway. I like having all of my stuff on Steam but I'm not so single-minded that I will refuse to buy anything elsewhere if I want it. I don't get that mentality.

What you got to realize is steam and valve have done such a good job that we associate owning a game with it being on steam. It doesn't feel like we really really own it if its not innately on steam. I know I do mostly due to all the extra features the steam envelope is comprised of.

I'm not going to pay the same for a game off steam than on steam, and that applies to most of us.

Yeah, that doesn't really help me get it. You don't own it either way. I guess if you only want to use mods from Steam, guides from Steam, message boards from Steam, reviews from Steam, then I sort of get it. But I've been gaming since long before Steam was a thing, so I don't do that, and maybe that's why I don't care quite so much. I have had bad experiences with both Uplay and Origins so I completely understand disliking those specifically because of that, but the general anger some people have against the existence of other platforms, unless they are basically similar-but-inferior to Steam, is odd to me. Not saying that's you.

Also, I'm not so sure about that "applying to most of us". No offense meant to anyone, but gamers have proven to generally just take what they are given. Look at how many times folks get burned by pre-orders and blind purchases, but it just keeps happening in mass numbers.

I really don't care. It's okay for me if Ubisoft doesn't want my money. I won't buy anything on EGS. Neither on Uplay directly, because all the other FC games were bought on Steam.

You won't need to buy games on EGS, they give you games

Sadly will be my 1st Far Cry I have to buy off from Uplay...

I was able to snag Anno 1800 before they pulled it off from Steam, only if it was Far Cry 6 instead...
