Yes, you can turn on/off quite a lot HUD elements.
Similar issue with GPS, ubidiots grooped waypoints on map to waypoints (blue arrows) in game world, it does not hurt to see waypoing on map, but it hurts to see arcadish blue arrows in game world, and yet again you cant turn of them separately, you turn off both or none.
Another similar issue is that huge yellow goal marker that handholding you - there is no way to turn it off separetely from other markers, its include in package of "world icons" they getting turned off all together... and if you will turn it of there is no way to find a goal without opening map, because game does not have mini map and does not have any markers on horisontal compass in upper part of screen, the only maerkers you can see on compass are enemies, everything else is missing... including even basic goal... and even markers of enemies on compass quite broken as they dont show real position of enemies... thing is that compass is squized horisontaly, so to see actual position of enemies on compass relative to you you have to stretch this compass to full screen width... even here ubi ♥♥♥♥♥♥ up everything.
I would prefer to play with all markers, including enemies, friends, goals, pickups, animals to be displaye only on compass relative to you (exactly how its done in Fallout 3-4 and Skyrim), but ubisoft game designers ARE BRAIN DEAD and cant come up with a simple yet elegant solution that does not break immersion and does not clutter screen with all the crappy UI.
I tried to play with everything or part of UI off, and Far Cry 5 just got broken in many aspects with UI elements offf, because of lack of more realistic and immersive alternate visual, audial or haptic feedback or less huge and cluttered alternative.
I would prefere also to see Far Cry 1 and Crysis 1 style of enemy attention indicator that displayed on compass as heat meter, not as retarded white arrows in a middle of screen that also shows direction. For example with current compass bar it can be done by progressively (smoothly) changing colors of enemies that sees you from green to red and making some wider horisantal "aura" of color on compass bar around icon of enemy that sees you... but Ubisoft game designers are too dumb for coming up with such a simple yet more immersive solution.
Also this time around not like in FC4 which had this option, you cant turn off highlight of interactive items and turn off some other things you can in FC4, and this time even binoculars are quited dumbed downa and does not mark weapon stashes, cars, and other stuff like that you was able to mark since Far Cry 2, and this time around you dont even have different icons for people and animals, especially on compass bar - all loook same, and this time around not like for example in Far Cry 3, enemies does not wear red or blue shirts that allows them to be easily distinguished by eye from background, and there are way too many enemies around and they patrols seems to be inproperly placed without good stealth aproach playtesting, so you when you will turnd off annoying and ugly and cluttered and immersion breaking hud elements, who are also A FREAKING BULLET SPONGES - you will get yourself into bullet hell without any awareness of those bullets coming from, and yoy die like from 3-5 hits, while enemies needs way more, so expience is very unfair and very annoying without those hud elements.
And worst part of it - ubi is not company that changes bad design decision and overhauling gameplay based on user feedback, so we are mostly likely stuck with all of this crap, and there is no hope for mods as well, because of they way game currenly done and how locked engine is and how its protected with easy anticheat, its hard to mod without breaking COOP and arcade mode and without chance to get yourself banned forever from all uplay games like that guy who just did hudless screenshots was recently banned for doing nothing bad... then unbanned after scandal, but still not everyone will get this lucky to get unban for just using mods that does not allow to cheat but simply makes game less annoying.
Wow thanks vood00m4n, I sent you also an award, very informative, interesting as I wanted and probably will buy FC5 at a low price in the future.. I still have to play FC4 but I am glad that it has quite some good stuff already embedded... anyway good devs were present back in the days still in the dev studios. noiw it's all executioners that operate to become someone in their career.. they don't have talent or can't express or they lose the job...

I don't play games when they come out because I have a huge back log and it's good to play games years after they are out.. otherwise today in last 8 years we received mostly unfinished stuff...
I am trying to finish in a hardcore realistic strategical and story enhancing approach with a few mission (user generated content by me) and of course no HUD , + FPP +no detection sound (2 mods) Ghost recon wildldnads.
I don't do this for the "arcadey challenge" as some could interpret it.
I do play games to be the character. To be in the movie.. to be in there.
People just play today to collect items and loot.
I cannot care less of this approach and interest of people.
I used to do sticker albums around 7-10 years old... I don't need to do it today.
I don't think they fix any HUD issues tho, UI has steadily got less consolized since the abysmal FC3 UI—in FC6 it has improved to nearly ok, or a bit better than poor.
Great games tho, 4 and 5 are both very polished apart from the UI.
