I'd understand if those unlockable upgrades, like the fishing rod, would unlock for the coop session only, but simply not unlocking at all just takes all the fun of playing coop. I certainly will not play coop anymore and get back to SP action only.
And as a player, I shouldn't be forced to read a pinned forum post, it should be explained WITHIN the game. The warning that comes at the beginning of coop games doesn't stay long enough for me to be able to read it, either. This is just bad game design.
If I sell a game with a limitation like that, I have to make sure it's properly explained within it, instead of refering to information that is only accessible by doing research outside of the game. The warning upon joining a coop session can only be read properly when taking a screenshot either. Definitely bad game design.
I have LOTS of games, I can't do research on every title, on everything I might or might not do in those games at some point. It's not my job to know everything about the game before buying it.
In case of Far Cry 5, this could easily be fixed by making that warning message persistent untill you accept it. But we all know that Far Cry has been having issues for ages that have never been resolved and still annoy everyone nowadays. I'll add this one to the list and keep my hands off coop.
Though I agree to your point in terms of reading the pinned FAQ before posting this. Nevertheless that's 2 different pairs of shoes.
1) you didn’t read the warning that comes up every time you join co-op and only goes away when you accept join
2) your friend caught the fish that you can’t catch yourself, so you are upset that the game doesn’t allow you to be carried.
Right??

As I said the warning comes up but doesn't stay long enough to read. You are asked to accept, but the warning 'accepts itself'. I tested this by joining and then putting my hands away from kb/m, so I can't accidentally press anything, yet the message disappears after 3 seconds.
No, but redoing all quests is what I'm complaining about. I kept trying to catch the Admiral, but obviously it was gone after my mate cought it. Obviously I know the positions now, but for me this was pure waste of time. If the message at the beginning had stayed, or if I'd get the rod purely for this coop session, or a chance to catch the Admiral myself to keep it for the coop session (there were obviously more than one, we were simultaneously fishing), then I wouldn't have any issue with this.
So what you're saying is: If I would've caught the fish, nobody should get the rod, because my progress isn't saved and my mate (the host) didn't catch it? That's some genious game design there.
