game wont even start

tried every fix in the book (as in everything I found on the internet) and nothing has worked. I'll keep trying but a game not working like this isn't a good look.

a little update: so I have tried to get this thing running since I got home from work and it's been a massive pain in the♥♥♥♥♥ I've tried everything as I said and nothing has worked. During my testing and troubleshooting I found that the game doesn't show up in the task manager. No it's not a lie, the damn thing doesn't show up in the task manager. There are some moments where it will however but even with that being said the game still doesn't even show up in the app bar in the bottom of the screen. So I'm at a total lose and I might as well give up. I know bethesda games tend to launch broken as♥♥♥♥♥but at least in the past they at least opened. This thing isn't budging at all.

p.s. I'll keeping hammering away at the game until I can get it to do something differently other than nothing.

another update: I'm thinking the .exe is just broken.

another update: performed a clean install of nvidia drivers and it still refuses to start.

special update: I GOT IT TO ♥♥♥♥ING OPEN!!!! so my pc resolution was set to something wonky (dont remeber but it was above 1080p) so I lowered my system resolution (desktop resolution) to 1080p and boom the game opened. i get the feeling if you're someone who is playing it at a higher or uneven resolution than 1080p then it may not open.

Same for me, I refund the game, nothing I tried fix the problem, never happend this before, too buggy for my taste.

I'll give it till friday but if it doesnt work by then I'm refunding

I did all the fixes including some that worked for other games. Nothing is working for me. Anyone want to bet it starts fine on the bethesda launcher?

the game runs well for me on bethesda launcher but im going out on a limb here and you havn;t added specs fo your pc but i would say you only have a i3 cpu and the game doesn't launch on duel core cpu's

Never in my life, I seen a game that legit refused to launch as persistent as this. No matter what. It says it's running on task manager, and now at this point no matter what I do it can't seem to run at all. Possibly tomorrow they'll make a fix, and I hope it fixed a lot of things, all of us in this discussion are missing out on an extremely cool game just because of software issues.

Hmm, launched fine for me. Post your specs? Maybe your rig doesnt meet recommended specs?

Obviously you should try reinstalling it, or verifying game cache at the very least. I would recommend at least giving the game a chance before refunding it, you never know you may actually like it. I didnt, but I know a lot of people do like it. You can always refund after 2 hours of play, when you really get a chance to decide.

And how can I refund it if I couldn't even friggin' play it at all? Steam apparently says it has 7 hours of play on it, but all of that was basically the game "running", and me figuring out what to do. For 7 hours. While it "ran". And as a 15 year old, I don't know a lot about my specs outside the fact that I have a Radeon rx580. Like almost everyone else, I tried all the things in the book.

Yup +1 wont frkn start for me either, doesnt show up in task manager just like OP. Checking game files not helping. Thats kinda disapointing.

Another game broken at the starting line lol. I don't recall this happening when games were bought in stores but maybe I'm looking at the past with nostalgia goggles on. Either way I guess I should stick with my personal policy of not buying games until they're on sale, but honestly was looking forward to this one and wanted to play minute it was available...

I had the exact same problem until I updated my nvidia drivers. Solved it for me, if you haven't tried it, give it a shot. If you have, godspeed

I'm actually the one who started that thread regarding the dual cores, and as I've stated repeatedly, it's speculation on my part and there's no confirmation as yet from the devs. OP in this thread is on a 4 core cpu and he's having the same issue, so it could be some other obscure issue unrelated to core count.

From what I saw browsing the bethesda forums is that they're flagging the "game won't start" threads as spam and from what I can see, the bethesda account responses are just giving generic advice that doesn't work/do anything "clear your steam cache" "run as an administrator" etc. At this point, I'm leaning towards a refund for the second account running on the i3 rig, whether it's related to dual cores or not, especially if there's no official sticky in these forums by bethesda at least ACKNOWLEDGING the issue that tons of people seem to be having here by the end of the week.
