Thoughts on the mugs?
I like the design, but ... plastic? You want me to drink beer, out of a child's sippy cup?

Good for display but wouldn't use for anything practical.

for 55eur they should have been made out of platinum lmao

I am more concerned about that the whole thing is plastic, and yet still being advertised as being able to withstand hot drinks. Like can it actually withstand boiling water or something?

Cheap junk. Lame cashgrab. Waste of time, effort and resources.

Tell us you don't understand economy of scale without telling us.

If you pour boiling water into your mugs, I am concerned about your drinking habits. Even glass containers would shatter from the thermal shock.

EDIT: In case you're talking about tea or coffee, it should still be cold enough to not be an issue.

I am talking about coffee and tea, yes.

In that case, it should be fine. PA6 plastic handles temperatures from -40 to 85°C, and can handle 160°C for short period of times. Unless you drink molten iron, you shouldn't have issues lol.

for those prices? hard pass
I know merch usually sells well but this time I'm honestly surprised it exceeded its goal on its first day. Seriously, there's thousands of people who want to pay close to $100 for a plastic mug? I'm finding that hard to believe.

cheap tacky overpriced bollocks sold by companies exploiting their fans' goodwill is definitely not news at this point, but it's more pathetic to still buy the thing you're complaining about, which is something lots of people do, paradoxically

it's like when everyone complained about that dreadful lion king remake but still saw it anyway, to the extent of making it one of the most profitable movies of all time

if you actually believe this is a bad deal, don't buy it. GSG is a company and is thus motivated by their bottom line - we saw as such when people thought the S3 DLC looked ugly

I'm not sure anyone here understands how expensive it is to buy complex molds and equipment time at a factory to produce small batches of something.

The plastic being used is also of extremely high quality, and thus expensive. The design is very complex, significantly more complex than your average plastic drinking vessel; involving multiple pieces.

I'm not saying buying expensive plastic mugs from a videogame is a smart choice in general, and I'm definitely not going to be spending my money on something so frivolous, but it's not a scam, you're getting charged relative to what it costs to produce the product; it just costs WAY more than you think due to economy of scale. Ie. They would be WAY cheaper if they made WAY more of them, but obviously no one is gonna buy all of those.

This is exactly what Kickstarter is for, small batches of niche product; that people are willing to pay more than average for.

Not really into merchandise in general.
Still feels like a sippy cup, insult to beer to drink it from this thing.
