Pots O' Gold increases how much gold you get when mining gold with your pickaxe. Same as with morkite, obtaining it any other way does not count.
Yes, if new players join and you're concerned about not getting the maximum potential yield, then you should inform them that you have the brew active. That said, there's always enough of either resource, so a humble request to not be upset if they don't cooperate.
Pots o' Gold slows the entire game down to a crawl.
If anything, it makes the play-experience more interesting.
I agree gold is mostly a waste of time most of the time.
Actually, has anyone run out of resources other than Beer-crafting ones past the first few promotions worth of play? Seem like the only way to do that is to unlock way more useless cosmetics then you ever have any real use for. Seems like the useful stuff (overlocks and not much more than the 24 Class-Buildouts pairs worth of cosmetics) will leave you with more resources than stuff worth buying. (Unless you skip mining the resources which are more valuable, which is almost all of them.)
*DONKEY TI...*
*I need to make a deposit !*
You forgot:
"I'M FULL, WHERE'S MOLLY???!"
But yeah, Pots O' Gold doesn't apply to Bosco if you're playing solo, so if you REALLY want to maximize your gold yield and there's a gold vein high up on a wall, you're either digging or making platforms to it, 'cos robo-buddy doesn't get the benefit.
"I wanna punch the guy in R&D who programmed Molly"
(No seriously, the amount of times she walks in front of me or pushes me off a cliff because she decides she wants to be somewhere is astronomical)
When it comes to Molly, either Ghost Ship is having a laugh at our expense, or, more likely, the incompetence is equal as they both (DRG in-universe and GH IRL) programmed Molly as they did.
By comparison, the armor on Bosco seems to be completely invulnerable to bug attacks, and the Drilldozer is always damaged on the left-side (or right - I'm dsylexic) first. Why not just stick some of that invulnerable armor on that one spot and Doretta is invulnerable? Obviously in that instance, it's DRG's incompetence that leads to failed missions, but unlike Molly, letting Doretta be damaged isn't incompetence by Ghost Ship because they're job is making a fun game rather than trying to obtain more hearthstones. (BTW... the Blizzard Games[hearthstone.blizzard.com] reference was lost on me until I typed out that word just now.)
Dark morkite is similar but is rarely ever needed, there is always more than enough morkite in the cave, it really depends upon how deep you want to go on the mission.
Increasing "the amount of mineral per deposit" is the opposite of that, and, I'm guessing, doesn't actually let you finish it faster - you just get more minerals for your trouble.
