Deep Rock Galactic
rogue core has half the players that regular drg has right now, even after all these years.
everyone who bought the game thinking it was good is suffering rn... barely any lobbies im guessing, and worst of all the devs refused to remove all the gimmicky trash that ruined the experience in the first place...

how does a new game die out harder and faster than their previous game? over hyping it and under delivering. not only that, theire also giving us things we dont want and forcing us to deal with it, i wanna see how many of thsoe 42k players refunded it... and how many fell victim to refund policies and now has it rotting in their library...

the long story short here is that the og drg will always be better than whatever else these guys could squeeze out, proven by their whole years long development on something that doesnt even appeal to the majority of the original fanbase.

last 30 days, -43% player count, and dropping as we speak.
if theres one thing i am, that is not wrong.
itll take a miracle to revive the game, aslong as im concerned it will have to be a full rework/overhaul of everything in the game, or the decline will continue, the "good" part is... people who never played the normal DRG before would prolly wanna buy it instead and play an actually good game, which means a positive players gain for DRG. hopefully.
Eh, it doesn't grab my attention like DRG. At least Ghost Ship tried. Now, they can focus on DRG more.
It's a good game, just not for everyone. It might seem like a failure to you if you only like the original, but it has its place as a good game.

It has somewhat low variety between upgrades, and could benefit from just some more general content, but it's an early access game, so it'll get that stuff sooner or later.

DRG Survivor was a good game too, better than rogue core in fact and it also has a fraction of the consistent players DRG has. The problem is not that they made an awful game, they just made a game very few people wanted. Worse they made a game almost none of the fans of the DRG franchise wanted.
Developers felt too safe about selling reheated DRG asset flips. This should be the wake-up call for them to get their ♥♥♥♥ together.
The game will die very fast, just like I said in the past.
"Even after all these years"

DRG is a decade-old game with a complete range of content and an established, dedicated playerbase.

Rogue Core is a fresh new title with barely a month in early access. It hasn't had the time to reach its full level of quality yet, find its playerbase yet, get rid of that tag that so many people avoid as a rule regardless of game quality yet.

Even so, it's important to remember that DRG was actually a smash hit. Maintaining 5-8k concurrent players 24/7 is not an easy feat. Rogue Core was always a step into niche territory. it was never going to be that big. The fact that it's already half as big is a great start. Games have thrived on less.

you missed the part where i said, in the last 30 days the playercount continued to drop by over 40%
thats not a great sign

if anything, another 30 and itll reach -60% CCU at this rate
DRG started out with a small playerbase as well, the game got better and better with time and the playerbase started growing and today because of how good the game become it still has players willing to spend their time in it despite it being old.
I would guess that at its early access release peoples comments on DRG were similar to many other games that go into early access release.
Rogue core is most likely not a bad game, considering the amount of experience the developers have gotten from making drg.
I have my reasons why i didnt buy it, but those are minor reasons (i dont like the classes for example) also i wanted to not be a alpha/beta tester for a game for once, and considering the amount of experience the devs have i totally hoped for them to make a "finished" game release. a nice day 1 launch party for everyone who wants to play... and all further updates expansions to the OG game.
It really sucks buying a game that looks good and then it turning into crap because the devs turn it into what the steam forums or some discord societies tell them to (trying to please the forum mob is a path to ruin games)
devs need to learn to ignore posts that use the idiot bingo buzzwords like balance or potential.

I bought the game, played it and still hate it. And I will keep on playing and hating.

I'll believe it when it happens. Player counts tapering off in the wake of updates and releases is normal and expected. I mean, just look at DRG's playercount chart. If DRG can lose 90% of its daily active players in two weeks following the release of season 6, Rogue Core can afford to lose that much in a month.

youcant really refund it anymore after 2 hours, which... if you really wanna test a game you need more than 3 hours to explore all of the immediate content... which makes the 2 hours refund time limit the worst thing about steam.
you can obviously hate at first, then grow to like it. thats why we should be given 12 hours to make up our mind. not 12 hours of playtime, but once u buy the game. u have 12 hours to refund it whether you play or not. which would fix everything.

Theres no way that could work unfortunately. There are just too many games out there you could beat in that much time and it would get extremely abused. I think the best solution would be game demos make a comeback. Personally i think they've become a rare thing because poor games are so common most developers don't feel confident enough to provide a demo.
