The halloween pumpkins cannot drop error cubes like gift boxes can.
In the meanwhile, if you’re insistent on finding them, exclusively play short length missions to maximize the amount of missions you’re playing. Unlike random machine and season events, error cubes are a static 1/27 chance each mission, and do not increase based on how lengthy the mission is.
You could theoretically farm length 1 Point Extractions, exiting out once you’ve scanned the room for the gray crystals marking an error cube deposit and restarting, but it would be incredibly boring and pointless unless you’re dead set on seeing your error cube number go up.
So if XP amount interests you, try including Double XP missions within your search whenever possible. You will return with some goofy numbers in the XP earned tally.

"Because it currently lacks any use, it is widely considered an easter egg and is often mistaken for a bug due to its intentionally glitchy-looking name."
You are reading the FANDOM wiki which is notoriously vandalized with loads of fake articles and assorted bs. Pretend it doesn't exist and go here instead: https://deeprockgalactic.wiki.gg/wiki/Deep_Rock_Galactic_Wiki
Rofl, Fandom gets another one.
Now I'm gonna be afraid to be playing with y'all.
