Recently, MT abruptly decided to cancel all upcoming updates for Dead Cells, a move that left the player community quite speechless. A multiplayer game is "alive" when there are enough players to find and play with.
Age or opinion doesn't mean anything. If the above is the case, you can play this game and have fun in multiplayer.
Also, according to the developer's statistics, DRG is actually growing year over year.
So that's more than alive - it means it's actually becoming more popular as time goes on.
Also it's still unclear what impact Rogue Core will have on the current game. Maybe they will coexist, maybe they will be merged into one game in the future.

idk man. I had my fun with it and it was worth the amount I paid, I joined around season 2 and yeah I also expected things to change a lot but things plateaued instead. s3 and s4 were a huge nothingburger and only added a tiny amount of flavor to missions in the form of rockpox enemies, of which became more annoying than fun after a few missions.

the stingtail and septic were nice additions, assuming the stingtail wasn't insta-killing you when it was bugged. shame that they were nerfed so hard as they barely pose a threat now.

I guess I had higher hopes for the game's future back then and didn't realize that s3 onwards was towards the end of development, still disappointed but what are you gonna do?
they clearly don't want to work on DRG anymore and want to move onto other projects, which sucks for fans like me as I don't give a ♥♥♥♥ about anything else they plan on making lol.

hopefully s5 has something interesting in it, a new mission type and 12 OCs is something at least. better than 4 lousy grenades lmao.
