Edit: Can't do both yet.

You can go further on a Rich Atmosphere level, and if you have the time to go slow, I think you could go much further by drilling for 1 tick, walking, drilling 1 tick, walking, etc...

Get drilling speed, you rarely run out of ammo for drills.

For the first Power Drills tier, I go with hardened drill tips. A faster drilling speed is rather useful, and you can get more fuel at Tier 5 anyways,.

Hot take.
Drill damage = drill speed > drill ammo tbh.

Base drill speed is fast enough in most situations. Tunneling, clearing terrain, and even in emergencies where you have to catch yourself on a cliff wall by making a ledge to avoid a bad fall or tunneling to escape a bulk/dread. I feel like my survivability went way up when I learned how to properly melee things with the drill without the Cryo cannon.

That said, further improving drill speed is never a bad choice and afaik it is the one most experienced players go with. Tunneling and clearing a fighting area is good. Moreso if you do it faster. And the split second saved in clearing a pixel of dirt blocking you can mean life or death.

You have more than enough ammo for most usecases. More drill ammo is the weakest of the 3 options imo.

I Agree With This

No Matter How you Build your Drill Arms, For Myself, I have My Total Fuel at 50

While I Agree With This Logically, Illogically I have Both OCD with Numbers,
and I Like to BE SURE I have Plenty of Fuel, Just In Case-

I Play Mostly Solo, so I Control all the Supply Drops and I'm the Only One Using Them,
so I Rarely get below 15-20 Fuel for the Drills- But sometimes I do, especially on Biomes Like Magma Core which has Harder Bedrock and you have to Steer Your Tunnels around Fire and Lava, or any More Vertical Cave Systems where I have to Drill Up or Down or Spiral Them More- With a Team sometimes the Nitra and Supplies get Spread Too Tight, so being able to get Only 1 Solid Supply Block of 25 + the Existing 10-20 I have still gives Me always a Good Supply of Fuel for the Drills- Also with a Team It's Nice to Call Out at the End of a Mission, before the Run Back to the Pod, for Myself as Driller to Request 2 Full Supply Drops If I'm below 10 Fuel, or Out, so I can be Topped Off at a Full 50 so I can Drill us all Back Easily before the Button on Molly is Pressed- Often 35-40 Fuel will be Enough, but I've had to
use 45-48, and Rarely All 50 and We Had To Pickaxe the Short Rest of the Way

So for Me 50 Fuel, but I think 44 was also a Common Number to have, which is Close-
1 Tick of Faster Drill Speed is Good to Have, but Not ALL the Drill Speeds- I Find I can Drill Well and Fast Enough as it is- Drilling Is more about Planning, Angles, and Accuracy than Speed

So you don't even take the T3 mod supercharged motor?

I run low on Driller fuel pretty often (which is a good thing, cuz I rarely completely run out) and I take AAAAA, first upgrade in each tier.

Of course if you never use Drills for melee ever, T1A is useless, but I'd say you're making a huge mistake not using them for at least some combat. Drills have a 100% stun value vs everything, so just tapping Grunts that get too close for 1 tick of damage with the Drills completely stuns them.

The stun is also good for stopping Praetorian breath attacks and Stingtail combos.

Sure, it stuns without the damage too, but the damage is genuinely good for clearing trash mobs and if you run Vampire on Driller (which you should), it makes filling up on Grunt swarms that much easier.

:steamthis: This is all good advice, couldn't have said it better. Personally I use the drills more for combat than drilling.

I'm not a Huge Melee Drills User, but I can and will Grind Up Bugs that get too close,
or sometimes just for Fun

What I DID NOT KNOW was that the Drills Stun 100% of the Time, even after
all my Years of Playing- I guess I just Grind Away and Kill and never noticed

Thanks a Bunch for That Femboy:steamthumbsup: I'll use that if a Prae or Oppressor gets too close and
Stun them with the Drills First (If I'm out of C4, usually they get Blasted before getting close)

Question- Do the Drills Stun Dreadnoughts and Hiveguard Dreads as well?
THAT I could use Often
