Deep Rock Galactic
Have they said anything about adding more primary weapons?
The only thing thats boring me after 200 hours is the weapon variety

It's not off the table, but it wouldn't be any time soon.

I wish they had more generic guns for each class, like LMG's, AR's and shotguns

No gun in DRG can be "generic" because they have to make frameworks, upgrades, overclocks, and skins for every single one; it's a massive amount of work at this point.

There isn't enough variety for existing weapons

Maybe if we're lucky they might add some weapons that we'll see in Survivor and Rogue Core in as special assignments. But that'd have to be for way way later and even then I'm not gonna hold my breath.

Unique weapons for every class is the part of the game.

If you wish there is a mod where you can set any weapon and any tools to any class, but I think other player need to have the same mod to play with you. However if you like solo you can enjoy it.

"New dwarves or missions or weapons - No new dwarves; new mission is probably on the list relatively high; guns are possibly further ahead in the future - 27.10.2023 - Dev Stream 27.10.2023"

True
Also with many OCs after 3k hour I never felt the weapons boring, or bored by the lack of weapons.

I'm at almost 1k and I'm still trying out new builds and finding new favourites. I finally tried out plasma burst rockets and that is 10x better than I anticipated. It shreds dreads, HVT, waves, robots, everything. It's the first time since the pre-nerf incendiary mod that I've actually found hurricane to be good. What's really cool is that it's essentially a brand new gun, with changed visuals, sound, and functionality. There's more variance between this same gun with the OC on or off than there is between some completely separate guns in other games. That's what I like about the build variety in this game, and why the deceptively low weapon count doesn't feel as low as it is.

3100 hours under the hood in this game and I don't understand how people find the variety of weapons too limited... At some point you find your "soulmate" weapon anyway. Okay, some do.

I feel the game has more weapon variaty than most FPS because instead of having 15 variants for the same old assault rifles, snipers and shotungs each weapon is unique to start with and have mods that drastically change how they actualy play
but they will proablie release more it just takes a while because they release them in batchs so each class has something to look forward to and with most of there overclocks to try and keep the build variaty on par with existing weapons

I'm fine with the variety of weapons we have.
Through overclocks and various upgrades, those weapons are a lot more multi-purpose than they would be in other games, as some of those weapons can change quite drastically depending on the OC picked.

Besides, more weapons wouldn't really equal more fun, at least to me. It's nice to have a certain degree of variety sure, but I would still be doing the exact same missions, the game wouldn't really play all that differently from before.

Mayhaps some new overclocks could spice things up a little, but in general, I would find more enemy types to be much more interesting. I personally love the recent addition of the Stingtail for example.

I think the correct response is to issue a challenge: design a weapon, along with (let's say...) 3 overclocks, and have the weapon itself along with all OCs provide a unique gameplay experience that no other weapons/OC's can offer. I know there's some overlap between weapons, such as Hipster w/ Armor Break kind of overlapping with certain GK2 builds. But still, it's a good thought experiment that might lead to better understanding of why it's so difficult to design and implement entirely new weapons.

Ironically though some of those "overclocks" can easily be made INTO new weapons or a variant of the existing arsenal, I even gave an example of an idea for a version of Gunner's minigun with the "Lead Storm" overclock as part of its base, even adding that it can be designed as a reference to another sci-fi shooter that has a minigun with an alternate mode that plants your feet in a similar fashion, the devs can easily make more guns if they looked at the overclocks and applied them to them as such.
