GTX 1070 – DirectX 11 or 12?
What is better with my GTX 1070? DirectX 11 or 12?

Not a matter of the card, but the OS

Win 10 or 11?

Then 11 would probably treat you better.

Not a definite, but it seems with Win 10, DX11 usually runs smoother than DX12.

Start with 11, then flip to 12 to see if theres a noticeable change.

Wife and I had i5 4440 with a 1050ti cards and it ran better with 11.

Also make sure you check the "Disable Master EQ" box so its turned off. that helps as well.

My old comp I used to play DRG on was a 1070, and as I recall it got better FPS with 12; but your CPU is gonna play a large part in that as well.

Try both and compare.

The DX12 renderer doubled my framerate and seemed to reduce the CPU limiting load on my system, so I can run the game at 100% render resolution with no difference to lower render resolution. The only issue I've observed is that the game gets odd frame time stutters at 60hz compared to 75hz. Like the others mentioned in the discussion, you might as well try both.

Heck you got to experiment a bit with your system to see what works best but a 1070 should have no issues with this game.

if you want to use HDR then Dx12

On paper DX12 will always use less overhead than DX11; resulting in more FPS. I have yet to encounter a game where 12 was not the better choice.

Test both is your best bet, too many hardware combinations to count.

DX12 is really good at exposing system instability since you run a lot more unrestrained.

Just upgraded from a 1070 gtx to a 4070.

The only difference now is I can't see anything with all the particles and I dont get dropped frames.

Dx 11 good sir.
