How do buff beer work ?

I was wondering, what happens when a non-full group of people drink a buff beer, start the mission, and then during the mission people join, because for pots o gold, it sure seems like it gives everyone the buff, but i'd find it weird if it worked like that for the others.

As I understand it, only the people with the buff mine extra gold from veins.

if you drink a buff beer and start a mission, you keep the buff that simple. Same concept for joining lobbies. Unless they had drank a buff beer prior to joining a game they do not receive your buff. Basically you have to drink the buff before hand before any mission whether hosting or joining.

i've hosted some gold rush mission with only 2 people actually drinking the beer out of 4, but still ended way over 1k gold, and i was seeing the other 2 mining gold still

Also if I am correct if a person mines it with pots or gold but doesn't have the space, that chunk of golds value is still increased

Only the people who drank beer and got a buff will have the buffs. Late joiners can drink their own buff beer before joining as well (but gets removed if they load into another space rig)

With pots o gold specifically:

All ore mined with a pickaxe (not through explosives, shooting it with a gun, Bosco, or by disconnecting it from the terrain) is doubled.

Any extra nuggets are dropped in their already-doubled form, and can be safely picked up by someone without pots o gold and deposited.

The bonus, as with all beers, does not apply to late-joiners unless in the very rare occasion they happened to drink a pots o gold in their own, empty space rig before joining your game and did not join a game before yours.
