Do you at least have all the frameworks from the previous season passes or are you totally screwed?
Thankfully I've been able to obtain all the seasonal frameworks, it's just all other ones. It's just a bit annoying is all, they keep adding more and more cosmetics, and the amount of grind especially for new players is just bloated even further. I mean I know they're just cosmetics, but still. I don't mind grind, but when it's excessive like in this case it just annoys me.
Basically, every DRG reviewer ever always gloats about how amazing GSG is for allowing new players to get past content. None of them ever mention (or they're not aware) that it takes well over a thousand hours to get even close to obtaining everything in the game.
So basically, no, you absolutely cannot get even most of the things in this game in a realistic manner if you start playing DRG right now...
I only have 365 hours right now (which is still honestly a lot) and I don't even think I'm 1/3 of the way to getting everything. Which is ridiculous, considering most DRG players only play for like 10 hours at most and then don't touch the game again.
One of the best solutions I've heard for this is to just make cosmetic things obtained for all classes -- for example, when one opens a cargo crate and gets a beard, they shouldn't have to get that same beard 3 more times for all classes, and should just *unlock* the beard for all dwarves once they first get it.
After nearly 400 hours of my life spent into this game, I hardly have ANY victory poses or bears or mustaches. It makes 'the grind' less of a grind and more of an impossible slog that never actually gets completed.
Edit: Just mentioning that I missed out on season 1... The sheer difference between someone who joined pre/during season 1 and someone who joined during season 2 is MASSIVE. The amount of frameworks, skins, and cosmetics with each season is far larger than one might think.
If anyone started playing DRG when season 3 released, I feel horrible for them, because they have literally no hope of getting anything, except if they spend ~2,000 hours or more in the game... And those who miss even season 3 are even worse off.
There's stuff for collector's for a reason.
Just because it doesn't affect game play doesn't justify the time sink needed for some simple cosmetics.
Also, what does affect game play: OCs, took me 500 hours just to collect all of them.
I mean you have 1200 hours, so you already have everything, so I don't expect you to care. But this is more of an issue for new players, and not really a problem for veterans. Like I said earlier, a little grind is okay, but when for example OCs are time-gated it again balloons the required time sink to obtain all of them.
But back on the original topic... Why not just add stuff like frameworks to the cosmetic shop? And still keep in them in the cargo crates as well, just that way there's still another way of getting them rather than relying on RNG. Which is never fun. I mean what the hell am I supposed to do with all these credits and minerals? Let me buy frameworks.
Also saying no one is forcing you to collect them? I mean I guess... but I literally have no other reason to play the game other than to finish collecting everything. I've already done and seen everything in this game.
I don't think you understand what I'm saying, I never said the game wasn't fun or that I wasn't having fun. But what isn't fun for me and every single new player in this game is the ridiculous amount of time required to obtain everything in the game, I mean this is Warframe levels of grind. I mean I'm no stranger to grind, I've played over 1000 hours of Warframe, and probably another thousand of Ark, so I'm used to grinding. But no one ever thought to themselves "wow I sure do enjoy grinding."
It's just lame that the only thing holding me back is some stupid cosmetics after 750 hours. So I guess I can expect another 300 hours before I finally have everything. Whatever.
Let's start with you understanding what you're saying.
Having 800 hours in a game and not having everything to show for it can feel deflating. At the very least when you finally do collect every last thing you can feel a little satisfaction. All of that is to say; yes it takes forever to get everything and should be streamlined.
Right bud, okay, again you don't understand what I'm saying. The game itself is fun, what does not = fun is grinding for hours, hundreds of hours for cosmetics I should already have after 750 flippin hours.
I don't have them based solely on the fact that frameworks are hidden in cargo crates which let's not forget the chances you find a cargo crate is based solely on rng, and not actually skill or even grinding. If I could grind for the stupid frameworks I'd already have them, BUT I have to rely on RNG to obtain them. Which is complete bs, and frankly man I'm done talking about this with you, since you can't seem to understand where I'm coming from, another typical DRG forum veteran who thinks the game is perfectly fine the way it is, and no improvements could be made whatsoever. Even for the sake of new players.
Oh but it doesn't affect game play though, so it doesn't matter and the devs should just completely disregard the fact it takes well over 1000 hours to obtain everything in the game, how is the game going to look in 5 years??? What is it gonna take 2000 hours to unlock everything then? Imagine being a new player to this game in 5 years, and then seeing all the grind they'll have to do. Again this is turning into Warframe levels of grind. They keep adding and adding, and never actually addressing how much they're extending the time sink for new players.
Whatever, dude, literal troll. Why the hell does it matter to you if they reduce the grind when you already have everything in the game?
This thread is devolving into sh*t at this point, unsubbing from this. I've made my points, nothing more to be said.
This is just a lazy strawman argument repeated ad-nauseam by players who can't comprehend that other people have different ideas of "fun" than they do.
You can have fun with the core gameplay, while also wanting to complete your collection. Don't pretend like they're mutually exclusive, like this guy is gonna get all the frameworks and then just go, "Meh, game's boring now, I quit, lol."
God forbid someone point out that the grind to get every cosmetic or framework takes hundreds of hours and is daunting to new players. This would be understandable in a Free-to-Play game, but you have to buy DRG, and typically players expect to be able to get most of what they paid for.
"They could add a way to reduce the grind somewhat" should not be such a hot take. And telling someone "go play something else then"? Really, what are we, kindergarteners? It's always, "Just play the game for fun!" with you people, until, God forbid, someone else has a different concept of fun than you.
The current grind for anything OC-related is diluted to the point of irrelevance, though weapon OCs are only gradually getting worse. If you want a specific cosmetic, you can expect to never get it; and getting every single piece of cosmetic item is pretty much just a pipe dream. Recent changes that were rolled out to save GSG's PR did help, but I doubt the average game enthusiast stays long enough to promote a class to begin with, so chances are, some people will never know of its existance.
Next thing they should do is to merge identical cosmetics, so at least we won't have to craft them individually for all 4 classes anymore. Who came up with that idea, anyway? Fire him along the guy who fixed the promotion bug without coming up with a proper system to replace it. I jest, of course. Don't take that seriously.
Just let us buy the damn things directly, so everyone can get the fashion they want as long as they can afford to do that. Greenbeards will have clear goals apart from aiming for functional OCs, and the dragons— I mean, Greybeards will have a use for the pile of riches they are sleeping on top of. Win-win, I'd say.
