None. It's just there.
Their only purpose at the moment is giving you a large amount of XP in the missions you find them in (4,000 xp).

You can also see how many error cubes you have in in your resource counter in certain terminals, like the Accessory shop terminal, on the top left side of the screen. They can’t be spent on anything though, at least, not yet…

It's some kind of fiendish tech and the dwarfs wonder if it's edible.
Ghost Ship Games have hinted that the Error Cube may be connected to the lore of the game.

In the game files, the Error Cube is referred to as a "Precursor Artifact". :azon_jewel:

He's coming.
There's an early reference that they plan to make it a usable resource eventually. (But they appearently haven't done that yet.)

There's a special upgrade computer hidden at the top of the station. You can convert it into weapon OCs cores, cosmetic cores, or trade for specific frameworks.

No, there isn't. It's just an unused resource leftover from early development. Though they did make them give XP on mission completion at least, and gave it some background lore fluff. They have been in the game since the beginning.
Actually the dwarves DO have an idea what the Error Cubes are for...

They just cant drink enough Smart Stout to work out what theyre used for exactly...

Yeah it doesn't have a special counter for it on the endscreen, it just adds a bunch of xp to the minerals mined section if I recall correctly. Several thousand worth per cube.

I use it to season Leaf Lovers Special to make that horrid drink at least bearable

Every mineral in the game has an Experience value attached to it. For every unit of resource you deposit (and for any you bring back in your pockets), you get a certain amount of experience added to the mission total.

Error Cubes give 4000xp each.
I thought these values were multipled by the mission's hazard bonus, but the Wiki suggests this isn't the case. Lately I don't have time to play and test out / confirm mechanics, personally, so I suppose trust the wiki :conwayshrug:
