You can also see how many error cubes you have in in your resource counter in certain terminals, like the Accessory shop terminal, on the top left side of the screen. They can’t be spent on anything though, at least, not yet…
In the game files, the Error Cube is referred to as a "Precursor Artifact".
No, there isn't. It's just an unused resource leftover from early development. Though they did make them give XP on mission completion at least, and gave it some background lore fluff. They have been in the game since the beginning.
They just cant drink enough Smart Stout to work out what theyre used for exactly...
Yeah it doesn't have a special counter for it on the endscreen, it just adds a bunch of xp to the minerals mined section if I recall correctly. Several thousand worth per cube.

Error Cubes give 4000xp each.
I thought these values were multipled by the mission's hazard bonus, but the Wiki suggests this isn't the case. Lately I don't have time to play and test out / confirm mechanics, personally, so I suppose trust the wiki
